NHL trade rumours: Five top-nine forwards the Oilers could target

The 2026 trade deadline is under six weeks away. On Friday, Daily Faceoff’s Matt Larkin released an updated version of the trade board with some interesting names on it. Of course, the Stanley Cup-contending Edmonton Oilers will be active, as they’re apparently on the hunt for a top-nine forward. Whether that’s a winger or centre…

GDB 53.0: Oilers need to show signs of life against the Capitals (8PM MT, CBC)

The Edmonton Oilers are a couple of days removed from an embarrassing beatdown by the Penguins, and tonight’s game feels like it should come with a bit of a lecture. Not the yelling kind. Not the dramatic kind. Just a quiet, arms-crossed big-dad disappointment that comes when you know a team is capable of more…

Coldest Game On Ice

For those who may be reading this article outside of the middle of continent, the frigid temperatures being experienced across Manitoba, North Dakota, Minnesota, and other parts in the midwest are nothing short of dangerous when it comes to frostbite and hypothermia. My hope is that anyone who is outside is bundled up to the point where movement is difficult and I pray that those who are homeless can find warmth tonight because this cold snap is brutal. I'm not one to complain about the cold o...

Today In NHL History - Phaneuf Shatters Glass

On January 22nd in 2008, the blistering slapshot of Calgary Flames defenseman Dion Phaneuf shattered two separate panes of glass behind Minnesota Wild goaltender Josh Harding six minutes apart during the first period of play. Phaneuf's first blast was fired from the Minnesota Wild blueline with the second emanating 120 feet away inside the Flames own end at the buzzer. Calgary beat Minnesota

Record-Setting Goal

The goaltender to the left may not be well-known, but that's only because he hasn't worn that jersey very often. Carter George will, one day, be a member of the Los Angeles Kings based on how well he stops pucks, but he's currently adjusting to life in Sault Ste. Marie where he's playing with th Greyhounds. The Owen Sound Attack traded him to the Soo in exchange for seven OHL Priority Selection picks two weeks ago after the World Junior Championship ended, and he it appears he's right at home ...

The Oilers are playing like they hate the regular season

With how the Edmonton Oilers are playing, they believe the regular season is too long.  It’s tedious. Annoying. Although silent, I’m sure there’s some contempt.  “We have to play 82 of these damn games?” someone might have said in the dressing room.  Yes, fellas – 82 of them. Largely, I agree. Regular seasons are loooooong. …

Top 100 Oilers: No. 54 — Jeff Beukeboom

Oilersnation is reviving the Top 100 Edmonton Oilers of All Time list, a project originally created by the late Robin Brownlee in 2015. Jeff Beukeboom comes in at No. 54 on our updated 2025 list. He was ranked No. 37 on Brownlee’s original list. There were many better Edmonton Oilers, but does anyone have a better hockey name than…

Flashback Friday: The Oilers’ seven trades with the Capitals

On Saturday evening, the Edmonton Oilers play the Washington Capitals for the second time in 2025-26. The two teams don’t have a lot of overlapping history. Neither team has been a Stanley Cup contender at the same time, as the Capitals were good enough to make the playoffs during the 1980s, but only made it…
