Grapefruit Juice: Mets 4, Blue Jays 3

The New York Mets (2-1) defeated the Toronto Blue Jays (1-2) by a score of 4-3 today at TD Bank Park in Dunedin. The Mets play the Astros tomorrow at Clover Park at 1:10pm. The game will be broadcast on SNY.

Mets Afternoon News: Subway Series South

Meet the Mets The Mets got their first win of spring yesterday against the Yankees, by a 6-4 margin. Jared Young, Luis Torrens, and Hayden Senger all hit solo home runs, and JT Schwartz provided the lion’s share of the offense with a three-run home run in the eighth inning. Justin Hagenman looked good in […]

Nate Lavender is back with the Mets and aiming to get back on the mound in 2026

It’s not all that common for a relief pitcher in the minors to generate even a moderate level of prospect buzz, but Nave Lavender garnered such attention when we put together our list of the Mets’ top prospects a couple years ago. Coming off a strong season in Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse, the 6’ […]

Ben Rortvedt provides Opening Day insurance at catcher

When Ben Rortvedt was claimed off waivers by the Mets on Sunday, it wasn’t the first time the catcher joined a New York organization, but it was certainly the quietest. Back in 2022, Rortvedt was acquired by the Yankees as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Gary Sánchez and Gio Urshela to Minnesota. Four […]

Grapefruit Juice: Mets 6, Yankees 4

The ball was flying at George M. Steinbrenner with the Mets blasting four home runs to defeat the Yankees 6-4 in the spring version of the Subway Series. On the other side of the ball the team’s pitching mostly held up well especially considering they faced quite a few Yankee starters for a few at […]

Daniel Duarte will look to get back into the big leagues with the Mets

Daniel Duarte was signed rather unceremoniously back in December of 2025, with his signing being discovered on his MLB.com profile page by MLB Trade Rumors. Duarte, however, is one of the more intriguing of the cornucopia of relief options that were brought in by David Stearns this past offseason, due to his past MLB experience […]

Mets Morning News: Checkmate

Meet the Mets The Mets played their spring training opener yesterday and fell 2-1 to the Miami Marlins at Clover Park. Many of the team’s new faces took their first swings in a Mets uniform and Brandon Waddell pitched two scoreless innings. However, the Mets were held hitless until the fifth inning and didn’t score […]

Grapefruit Juice: Marlins 2, Mets 1

The Marlins defeated the Mets 2-1 in the opening game of Grapefruit League play. The Mets were no-hit in the contest until the fifth and threatened late, but were unable to pull out the late-inning comeback. The Mets will play their crosstown rival Yankees in Tampa tomorrow at 1:05pm ET.

Mets Morning News: Cue the SNY theme

Meet the Mets Baseball is back! Here are some things to look out for as the Mets play their first spring training game today. Nolan McLean and Juan Soto engaged in an epic rock-paper-scissors battle yesterday while facing each other in live BP. Sean Manaea believes adjusting his arm slot will allow him to return […]

You should be excited about A.J. Ewing

There were a lot of notable breakouts in the Mets’ system last year. Nolan McLean went from an interesting arm in the back third of the top-101 to a potential top-of-the-rotation and the putative favorite for the 2026 National League Rookie of the Year. Jonah Tong started in a similar place and ended up only […]

How do you feel about Steve Cohen not wanting a captain on the Mets?

Mike Baumann has a knuckle-curve, will travel

One of the my favorite bits in Mets discourse these days is that the only part of roster building that David Stearns is actually excited about is dumpster diving for relief arms. Signing a young superstar to a record-setting contract? Boring. Trading for a potentially electric center fielder or a very affordable #2 starter? Grunt […]

Mets Morning News: The sun’ll come out tomorrow

Meet the Mets We’re 29 hours away from hearing Gary, Keith, and Ron on air for the first time in 2026, as the Mets’ spring training opener is set for a 1:10 PM EST first pitch tomorrow in Port St. Lucie. That’s a good excuse to take another look at the broadcast schedule for the […]

Mets announce 2026 promotional schedule

Earlier today, the Mets announced their 2026 promotional schedule for all home games through June. The Mets will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 1986 team all season long with some unique giveaways. If you’d like to rock a replica ring from the ‘86 squad, you have to be one of the first 15,000 fans […]

Nick Burdi, a former top prospect, will try to make it work with Mets

You can never have enough bullpen options, and the Mets, like every other team during the offseason, searched far and wide to find some intriguing pitchers that they could sign and try out in spring training. One of those options is Nick Burdi, a former second-round draft pick who is looking to rebuild his career […]

Mets Morning News: Mets break ground on new minor league complex

Meet the Mets David Stearns was on hand to break ground on the team’s new minor league complex which will almost be entirely paid for by Steve Cohen. After being acquired in the Freddy Peralta trade, Carlos Mendoza confirmed that Tobias Myers will be on the roster Opening Day but what role he would have […]

Which spring training storyline will age poorly?

Ryan Clifford, first baseman of the future?

Heading in to 2025, we were generally very down on Ryan Clifford. The top-line results and power production were decent, sure, but striking out nearly 30% of the time with a very passive approach is not a good sign for long-term major league production. It seemed like Clifford’s hit tool would ultimately limit his ability […]
