NFL predictions: Fast starts for the 49ers; Blitzing Broncos’ Bo Nix
Coming off a tight 36-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals, the San Francisco 49ers have a nice early test at home with the Denver Broncos coming to town. San Francisco’s offense has been the big story so far, as Brock Purdy has led one of the most efficient offensive attacks in the NFL so far. […]
Can the 49ers wear down the Broncos in 90-degree weather?
The San Francisco 49ers begin the first tough stretch of the 2026 season on Sunday, hosting the Denver Broncos. Sean Payton and the Broncos enter Santa Clara after some earning brownie points with the 49ers for their Sunday night win over the Los Angeles Rams. That result, combined with San Francisco’s Week 3 win against […]
Where the 49ers have surprised the most through three weeks
The San Francisco 49ers are off to a hot 3-0 start to the 2026 season, securing wins over the Los Angeles Rams, Miami Dolphins, and Arizona Cardinals. So far, it’s been their offense that’s been the story, as the 49ers have excelled behind Brock Purdy, playing mistake-free football and ranking first in the NFL (by […]
49ers News: Dante Pettis redemption game loading?
I was looking at PFF grades and noticed some interesting things about the Broncos’ performance against the Rams. Of course, you have to take PFF grades with a grain of salt, but I found it interesting that…. The Broncos are the most formidable opponent yet but they’re gettable, especially on the ground. So excited for […]
49ers elevate Brandin Cooks to active roster after WR released on Thursday
The San Francisco 49ers are elevating veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the practice squad to the active roster, while also bringing back wideout Malik Turner to the practice squad. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner reported that Khadarel Hodge, who has been dealing with a knee injury this week, was not seen at the beginning of Thursday’s […]
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan weighs in on reviewable pass interference
Nobdy signs up to watch “ref ball” on Sundays, but it seems like we can’t go a week in the NFL without the game being impacted by a controversial call. I’m sure the Arizona Cardinals felt like they were robbed on a couple of offensive pass interference calls against the San Francisco 49ers in Week […]
49ers expecting Mykel Williams to return as soon as he’s eligible after opening practice window
The San Francisco 49ers have been ravaged by injuries at a couple of places, but none have been more impactful than their injuries on the defensive line. The 49ers lost six defensive linemen through the first two weeks of the season to injury, and they’ve had to make a number of roster moves to recover […]
John Lynch on Mike Evans: ‘Mike’s going to make every attempt to try to play’
When the San Francisco 49ers lost Mike Evans during their Week 3 win over the Arizona Cardinals, the visible pain Evans was in looked like a player who would be out for longer than seven days. During a Thursday morning interview on KNBR, Lynch spoke about his star wide receiver’s toughness: “I will tell you […]
Christian McCaffrey has chance to surpass Hall of Famer on Sunday
Christian McCaffrey is regularly compared to Marshall Faulk because of his remarkable dual-threat ability as a running back. Before McCaffrey’s emergence, Faulk and 49ers legend Roger Craig were held up as the gold standard for backs who could do significant damage as a receiver as well as with their running ability. McCaffrey’s exceptional production on […]
Our first month with an app broke our commenting records
A month ago we announced the release of our new app, which you can find here or by searching SB Nation in your neighborhood app store. Quite a few of you have downloaded it over the past month and have been using it. The goal with this app was to make it easier to join […]
Kyle Shanahan downplays Broncos play caller change, calls talk ‘overrated’
Off to a 3-0 start, the San Francisco 49ers are heading back home in Week 4, as they’ll face the Denver Broncos at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday in one of their early tests of the season. San Francisco’s offense has been humming early, despite a bevy of injuries, as Brock Purdy has played at an […]
49ers News: Welcome to Brocktober
The more I think about it, the more I see shades of Jalen Brunson in Brock Purdy’s game. Brunson plays a type of basketball that all of us can play, winning with intangibles like craftiness and toughness and smarts. Superior use of angles and footwork and timing and accuracy. It’s not as visceral of a […]
Tom Brady makes Brock Purdy declaration following 3-0 start
For a long time now, many have struggled with the idea of Brock Purdy being considered an elite quarterback. But, following Purdy’s red-hot start to 2026 for the 3-0 49ers, the man he beat in his first San Francisco start in 2022 has no problem putting him in that group. Speaking as part of a […]
Kyle Shanahan insists ‘there was no relationship issue’ with Dante Pettis after 49ers reunion
Dante Pettis was the first the 49ers wide receiver to seemingly end up in Kyle Shanahan’s ‘doghouse’, with a career with the team that once looked extremely promising coming to an end after fewer than three seasons. The 2018 second-round pick, who had five touchdowns as a rookie and a further two in 2019, was […]
The 49ers have 2 new additions to Wednesday’s injury report
The following players won’t practice on Wednesday, per San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan DT James Thompson Jr. (ankle)DE Nick Bosa (calf)WR Mike Evans (ribs)LB Dre Greenlaw (quad)LT Trent Williams (neck)DE Keion White (hamstring)RB Christian McCaffrey (vet day)WR KhaDarel Hodge (knee) Limited: DE Romello Height (hand)DE Mykel Williams (knee) Williams must sit out Week […]
NFL Insiders share the price tag for the 49ers to trade for Mac Jones
As long as it’s still a topic of discussion, we’ll talk about the potential outcome of the San Francisco 49ers trading for Mac Jones. The more you think it through and look at the NFL landscape, the less likely it feels that a trade will happen. But the NFL is a fickle beast, and if […]
How a motivated Deebo Samuel has quickly made an impact with the 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers beat the Arizona Cardinals 36-30 over the weekend, improving to 3-0 on the season as they rode a strong performance from Brock Purdy and the offense to a victory. The game started with fireworks, as the 49ers successfully executed a hook-and-ladder for an 80-yard Deebo Samuel touchdown on their first possession […]
49ers in review: The offense is off to a historic start
The San Francisco 49ers moved to 3-0 on the season and 2-0 in the NFC West with a 36-30 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. At one point, it seemed the 49ers would run away with the game but instead played with their food a little bit, allowing the Cardinals to sneak back into […]
Could the 49ers be a trade fit for former 1st round WR?
Amidst their current injury situation, the San Francisco 49ers looked to bring in more bodies at wide receiver ahead of Week 4. Following a tryout, they signed former second-round pick Dante Pettis to the practice squad, making another change to a room that has seen a ton of movement so far. The 49ers have dealt […]
49ers News: We’re on to Denver
Brock Purdy has already earned my immense respect, and any accomplishment from here on out is gravy. Of all the things he has left to do before truly having a legacy… Super Bowl win, league MVP, other statistical accomplishments… he would become an actually immortal legend if he’s able to turn Dante Pettis into an […]
49ers set to reunite with Dante Pettis following tryout
The 49ers are set to reunite with Dante Pettis. San Francisco’s second-round pick in the 2018 draft was one of a host of wide receivers who tried out for the team on Tuesday following a rib injury to Mike Evans. And the Niners are giving Pettis a second chance with the team, with Jordan Schultz […]
How long will the 49ers remain undefeated?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year, we ask questions of the most plugged-in 49ers fans and fans across the country. How long will the Niners stay undefeated? For today’s SB Nation Reacts, we’re asking how long the 49ers can remain undefeated. It’s the NFL, and you […]
49ers make a change to the practice squad; try out Dante Pettis and Jerry Rice’s son
The San Francisco 49ers announced they have released defensive lineman Vincent Anthony Jr. from the practice squad. This comes a day after signing Matthew Judon. That seems like a 1-for-1 swap, as the team was unlikely to elevate Anthony Jr. to the active roster. Here’s what Kyle Shanahan said about Judon on Monday: “I know […]
49ers work out former Jaguars wide receiver with Mike Evans banged up
On Monday, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided a few injury updates. Mike Evans’ rib injury “shouldn’t be long-term,” as the team evaluated him throughout the week. It’s unlikely that we’ll see Evans in Week 4, which means Brock Purdy and the offense will be missing the 6’5″ wideout who was objectively the […]
Week 5 schedule flex impacts 49ers-Seahawks game
The 49ers’ game with the Seattle Seahawks was already set to be one of the biggest of Week 5 of the NFL season. Now it will be subject to more eyeballs after the NFL made a change to the schedule that week. The league is bumping the Chicago Bears’ game with the Green Bay Packers […]
