2 Detroit Lions defenders who earned more playing time, per Dan Campbell
The Detroit Lions made a handful of personnel changes for their Week 3 game against the New York Jets, and a pair of them earned more playing time moving forward after putting up strong performances. Lions coach Dan Campbell spoke to the media on Monday morning following his re-watch of the team’s 31-24 victory over […]
Detroit Lions stock report: 19 risers, 7 fallers against the Jets
Much like their Week 1 win against the New Orleans Saints, the Lions started the second half strong before allowing the fourth quarter to become far too close for comfort. Similarly, the defense was largely responsible for allowing explosive passing plays that fueled the Jets’ comeback efforts, but it delivered a clutch play when it […]
The secondary is bad, but the Detroit Lions are not
The Detroit Lions are 2-1, adding to their win column after knocking off an up-and-coming New York Jets team. But if you check the temperature of the more reactionary corners of the fanbase, they’re unimpressed and uninspired. After the shortcomings on defense snowballed—yet again—in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, those unimpressed feel little confidence […]
Panthers could be down 2 key defensive backs vs. Lions
The Detroit Lions are entering Week 4 as three-point favorites over the Carolina Panthers in their Sunday night showdown, but some injury news from Monday could see that line shift (note: it’s already jumped to 3.5). According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, the Panthers’ No. 1 cornerback Jaycee Horn is out indefinitely after suffering a […]
Detroit Lions Week 3 snap counts: Breaking down defensive changes vs. Jets
After starting the season 1-1 with glaring holes in defensive execution, the Detroit Lions made some significant changes to their personnel, some of which helped them get back on track, leading to a 31-24 win over the New York Jets in Week 3. Let’s look at the snap counts from this game and see what […]
Lions vs. Jets reactions: Did Detroit show enough improvement on defense?
Both of the Detroit Lions’ wins can certainly be categorized as “ugly wins.” Against both the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets, Detroit blew two-score leads. Both opponents—despite very little early-game success—were able to tie the game up late, and it required Detroit’s offense to take control of the game and the Lions’ defense […]
Detroit Lions grades: Week 3 report card vs. Jets
The Detroit Lions showed incremental improvement in their Sunday afternoon win over the New York Jets. Do they look like some obvious Super Bowl contender through three games? No, there’s far too much work to do on defense. But if they can continue trending in the right direction over the next couple of months, who […]
Film breakdown: How Detroit Lions’ defense set up game-winning play vs. Jets
The Detroit Lions defense answered the call against the New York Jets when it mattered most. In a hard-fought battle against Aaron Glenn’s ascending program, Kelvin Sheppard’s defense showed signs of improvement after a rough subsequent six quarters of football. Was the performance perfect? No. But what the defense showed was closer to the commitments […]
Discussion: Do you feel better or worse after the Detroit Lions’ win over the New York Jets?
A week after getting drubbed by the Buffalo Bills, the Detroit Lions had a potential palate cleanser in the form of the New York Jets. However, it was never going to be a cakewalk and the Lions knew that. Head coach Dan Campbell predicted a brawl against Aaron Glenn and company, and that proved true […]
4 takeaways from Detroit Lions’ 31-24 win against New York Jets
When your favorite football team takes an extended break, the wait to see them hit the field feels like forever. It feels even longer when they lose in an embarrassing fashion. After 10 long days, the Detroit Lions returned to the field, looking to get back in the win column against the New York Jets. […]
VIDEO: Jahmyr Gibbs copies Aaron Glenn’s celebration after touchdown
The Detroit Lions still have a lot of love for former defensive coordinator and current Jets head coach Aaron Glenn. So when Jahmyr Gibbs scampered in the end zone for his second touchdown of the day—and electric 17-yard run—he wanted to honor the former Lions coach. After reversing field and finding paydirt, Gibbs mimicked Glenn’s […]
6 winners, 4 losers from the Detroit Lions’ win over the New York Jets
For many, the New York Jets were not an intimidating threat on the schedule, but on Sunday, they pushed the Detroit Lions for a full 60 minutes. Detroit walked away with a 31-24 victory, but there is work to be done going forward. The offense yet again scored 31 points, but the defense yet again […]
Lions vs. Jets recap: Detroit survives another blown lead, wins 31-24
Much like their Week 1 game against the New Orleans Saints, it looked like the Detroit Lions had turned a corner and were about to cruise to a victory. Holding a 14-point lead at the top of the fourth quarter, that’s when some familiar issues popped up. More defensive mental breakdowns and offensive struggles allowed […]
Detroit Lions vs. New York Jets live game chat, discussion
The Detroit Lions and New York Jets face off on Sunday afternoon for a big game between 1-1 teams. The Jets are hoping to prove their early-season success is for real and tally their first marquee win under head coach Aaron Glenn. It would be a big, emotional win for Glenn to have it come […]
Lions Week 3 Inactives: Devin White, Tyler Conklin won’t play vs. Jets
The Detroit Lions have declared their inactives ahead of their Week 3 matchup with the New York Jets. The Lions are surprisingly sitting a couple of veterans—like Devin White and Tyler Conklin—while the Jets will be without a couple of their top players, including WR AD Mitchell and SAF Minkah Fitzpatrick. If you missed this […]
Detroit Lions updated depth chart: Week 3 vs. Jets
Before every Detroit Lions game in 2026, we will provide readers with an updated depth chart based on information gathered throughout the week. In Week 3, the Detroit Lions will host the New York Jets on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Ford Field. To help you prepare for this matchup, we have a detailed […]
Joey Porter trade rumors: Detroit Lions have contacted Steelers
According to ESPN, the Detroit Lions are one of “a handful of teams” that have made inquiries about trading for cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Adam Schefter’s report does not specify the level of contact the Lions have made, nor does it say whether Detroit has made any trade offers. The report only lists the Lions […]
How to watch Detroit Lions vs. New York Jets: TV, streaming, radio, more
The Detroit Lions and New York Jets will try to get back on Sunday of Week 3 after two disappointing losses last week. The Lions got outclassed on Thursday Night Football by the Buffalo Bills. The Jets let a 10-point fourth-quarter lead over the Green Bay Packers slip away thanks to some questionable decisions by […]
Detroit Lions place S Thomas Harper on IR, elevate 2 defenders for Week 3
The Detroit Lions’ injury woes at safety continue to worsen, as they announced Saturday that they placed safety Thomas Harper on injured reserve. Additionally, the Lions announced the elevation of two defensive players for their Week 3 game against the New York Jets, giving the unit more depth for the game. Harper finished the Lions […]
New York Jets vs. Detroit Lions Week 3 preview: 6 key stats
It’ll have been a long ten days for the Detroit Lions fan base between games against AFC East foes, and they’ll gladly welcome the challenge of taking on old friend Aaron Glenn. His New York Jets nearly started 2-0 before coughing up a fourth-quarter lead to the Green Bay Packers last week. Glenn’s Jets—who haven’t […]
Detroit Lions fans pick winner of Lions vs. Jets in Week 3
Earlier this week, we published our latest SB Nation Reacts survey, sponsored by the folks at FanDuel Sportsbook, and asked Detroit Lions fans two questions: Confidence plummeted after the Week 2 loss to the Bills, and for the first time in the Dan Campbell era, fewer than half of Lions fans feel confident the organization […]
Detroit Lions vs. New York Jets Week 3 preview: Madden 27 Sim
Does Madden 27 have any true predictive power when it comes to real NFL games? Based on my experience, the answer is almost certainly no. Madden is crazy, random, and illogical so many times that we run our Madden sims that no one should be taking these seriously. But for the first two weeks of […]
Discussion: Who will be the Detroit Lions’ MVP vs. the Jets?
The Detroit Lions will be the first to tell you that good, fundamentally sound football requires the effort and skill of 11 players working in harmony. That was painfully obvious last Thursday night, when just about every play had one or two players not doing their assignment, and it made the entire team look disjointed […]
Lions, Jets injury designations: Starting OL expected to play in Week 3
The Detroit Lions and New York Jets have declared their injury designations ahead of their Week 3 matchup at Ford Field, and while the Lions have three starting offensive linemen on the injury list, all three are expected to play on Sunday. Note: Any changes from the most recent injury report will be bolded. Ruled […]
Dan Campbell presser takeaways: Lions’ zone coverage increase, update on OL health
Most of the stories for the week have been written by Friday when it comes to the NFL. Fans are just ready for the games after a week of endless chatter. But every week in the Detroit Lions calendar ends with a Dan Campbell press conference on Friday, and, generally speaking, it can be a […]
