Bo Horvat scored with a nifty backhand on a breakaway as the Islanders continued their insane overtime record (9-0) and salvaged a win from their California swing, defeating the San Jose Sharks, 2-1. Brayden Schenn made his Islanders debut and was a presence for both the regulation goal for and against, settling in next to […]
It felt like for the longest time that the remarkable start of Brandon Bussi was one that was increasingly impossible. While bringing a strong track record of sterling saves, since the Olympic Break he hasn’t looked nearly as stellar. What’s been more concerning is his weakness at handling the puck, and it would play a […]
Well, that’s a relief. The Tampa Bay Lightning snap their four-game losing streak with a convincing win over a reeling Toronto Maple Leafs squad, 5-2. With four assists, Nikita Kucherov hit the 100-point mark for the fourth season in a row. Corey Perry scored in his first game since the trade deadline and Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 27-of-29 shots.
Yes, it was the Maple Leafs, a team that is driving the struggle bus right off of Niagara Falls (the Canadian side), but after failing to taste...

“You’re either winning or you’re learning” is one of my favourite sayings in sports. It’s a constructive way to frame a game in a glass-half-full type of way. You either celebrate your success or learn what you can do better for the next time. Frustratingly, the Leafs are neither winning nor learning right now. General […]

Craig Berube addressed the media after his team’s 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, which dropped the Maple Leafs’ record to 27-26-11. On the team’s performance: Tough break on the first goal. I thought that kind of took a little bit out of us and put us on our heels a little. They capitalized […]

First period
The Canadiens are getting zone time, which is a good thing versus a team that often stymies them in the neutral zone. It will be important to get a lead however so the Kings can’t just slip into a defensive formation for the rest of the game.
Kaiden Guhle whacks Alex Laferrière in the face with his stick and will sit for two minutes. If it hadn’t been Guhle, it would have been Mike Matheson for tripping as that pairing got beat once again on this trip.

Pregame There’s no Evgeni Malkin (suspension) or Sidney Crosby (injury) so the Penguins are working with this lineup today. Roope Hintz's return to the Dallas Stars lineup lasted less than two periods. He was coming back Friday night from an illness that had kept him out of the previous four games.
