Round 2, Game 2 – Player of the Game: Taylor Hall

When a player scores the game-winning goal in overtime, you would think he would be a no-brainer selection to be named “Player of the Game”, but I struggled with this one. I absolutely loved Jackson Blake’s gritty play on the puck while he battled to get that puck loose in the crease, enabling Hall to […]

Flyers recall prospect Jett Luchanko after OHL season ends

The Philadelphia Flyers are bringing in some more young players to go along for the ride in the playoffs and now it’s a fairly divisive prospect who is going to be joining the team. Announced by the Flyers on Wednesday morning, they have officially recalled center prospect Jett Luchanko from the OHL’s Brantford Bulldogs. Why Jake DeBrusk is not a solution for the Oilers

Why Jake DeBrusk is not a solution for the Edmonton Oilers For nearly half a decade, trade speculation has linked the Edmonton Oilers to Jake DeBrusk. After he signed long-term with the Canucks in 2024, however, that discussion died down. A recent article on CanucksArmy reignited the conversation about Edmonton as a potential landing spot,…

Do the Miami Hurricanes have Championship caliber depth?

So, I was listening to a recent episode of the Domonique Foxworth podcast, and he had football analyst Ben Solak on the show. During the conversation, Solak said something that really made me think: In short, Solak said that the real test of a team’s championship depth is evaluating the quality of the 3rd best […]

Victor Hedman opens up about his absence from the Lightning

After just a handful shifts in Vancouver on March 19th, Victor Hedman left the eventual 6-2 Tampa Bay Lightning win. He would not return to the line-up for the rest of the season. On Tuesday, he spoke to the assembled media about his absence, “Obviously, after the first period in Vancouver was kind of the final straw. It’s a thing that’s been going on for a long time, and try to work through it, and find ways to get around it, but I wasn’t able to do that. So, that’s where the decision ca...

Oregon Women’s Basketball Transfer Portal Update

As with men’s basketball, Oregon women’s basketball encountered some flux at the end of this last season. After the 2024-25 season, there were no transfers out – the first time in recent memory that has been the case, and certainly since the change in the portal transfer rules. After the 2025-26 season, however, we saw […]

What should the Penguins do with their salary cap space this offseason?

The Pittsburgh Penguins are about to enter what could be (and perhaps should be) a fascinating offseason. Probably one of the more fascinating offseasons they have had in years. There is the Evgeni Malkin situation looming. There is the fact the Penguins, coming off a surprising playoff appearance, have to wrestle with the reality that […]

Italian Reports Claim Alisson Has Agreed Personal Terms with Juventus

Early in the week we were given a wave of stories linking Liverpool and Brazil goalkeeping star Alisson Becker with Juventus, with multiple outlets including Sky claiming the Serie A club had made the 33-year-old their top goalkeeping target and would commit “significant resources” to signing him. That always seemed more likely to revolve around […]

Your lottery team knows where their pick is now. Here’s why they should trade it

Last night saw the hockey world settle in to watch the NHL draft lottery, an annual event in which a collection of ping pong balls reward whichever franchise and its fans are found to be the most noble and pure of heart . So now we know the NHL’s order for this June’s draft, pending any trades. And it really feels like we’re only saying that last part to be polite. It’s exceedingly rare to see a team trade a pick in the first half of the first round, at least once the lottery has come and gone...

The Oilers need to prioritize re-signing Kasperi Kapanen

There’s a long list of things that need to get done this offseason for the Edmonton Oilers, and some decisions will require weighing the options, but re-signing Kasperi Kapanen should be an easy one to make, and extending him should be at the top of the priority list. The 2025–26 regular season was a rather…

Draft lottery pot of gold gives the Maple Leafs the momentum boost they badly needed

Just when you think you’re out… Long-time Maple Leafs diehards are extremely familiar with the rollercoaster ride of following this beleaguered franchise day in and day out over the years, but the last 24-48 hours are about as dizzying as it gets. First, a controversial GM hire with little initial popular support was announced by […] The post Draft lottery pot of gold gives the Maple Leafs the momentum boost they badly needed appeared first on Maple Leafs Hotstove .

Buffalo Bills division rival 2026 draft analysis: New York Jets

The New York Jets were really, really bad in 2025 and finished with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Second-year GM Darren Mougey has started his tenure in East Rutherford, New Jersey with darn-good process, trading away the likes of Sauce Gardner, Quinnen Williams, and Jermaine Johnson for draft picks — […]

NHL Mock Draft: Maple Leafs select Gavin McKenna #1 overall

The Toronto Maple Leafs have started the John Chayka and Mats Sundin era off with a fortunate bounce.  The ping pong ball combination came out in the Leafs favor, and they'll select first overall at the NHL Draft next month in Buffalo. It's the third time the Leafs will select first, and the first time since Auston Matthews was brought into the organization. There's going to be lots of debates about Gavin McKenna vs Ivar Stenberg, and with Sundin in the mix now with Leafs' management, the...

San Jose Sharks Open to Trading #2 Overall Pick

The San Jose Sharks had luck on their side Tuesday night, as they've won the second overall pick at next months' NHL Draft in Buffalo. General manager Mike Grier was very excited with the news, as the Sharks and the Maple Leafs were the big winners of the night, moving up the draft board in a major way. The Sharks are familiar drafting among the top three in recent years, however, with their roster currently constructed the way it is, and expectations climbing, expect to see Grier listen to an...

3 Trade Destinations for Canucks' Elias Pettersson

The Vancouver Canucks have a big offseason ahead as they continue their rebuild. They are entering the summer with several trade candidates, and Elias Pettersson is one of them. The 27-year-old center needs a change of scenery in a major way. Because of this, let's look at three teams that could look to acquire Pettersson during the offseason.  Philadelphia Flyers  The Flyers have taken a big step in the right direction this year and are in the second round of the playoffs because of...
