Maxim Berezkin (Beryozkin) scored in Game 7 double overtime for a 4-3 victory, sending his Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team on to the KHL championship series. Evaluating the Penguins attempt to get younger in 2025-26

Nothing about the 2025-26 Pittsburgh Penguins went as anybody expected it to go. When offseason began early in the summer of 2025, there was a belief that the team would not only be bad, but that it would be one of the worst teams in the NHL. There was a common theme nationally that there […]

Flyers need to start on time again against the Hurricanes

While the Flyers have generally outperformed expectations over their first series and change in this playoff run, there has been one specific scenario that they just cannot get right. Throughout the first seven first periods they played in the playoffs, the Flyers have failed to score.  Despite blitzing the Penguins early on and running out to a 3-0 series lead, the Flyers never really took the play to the Penguins early on. In fact, the Penguins seemed to be the quicker team off the mark...

NHL draft lottery hindsight fun: The games that we now know changed the outcome

The NHL draft lottery was this week, and the results were met with unanimous praise and approval. But what if things had been different? Specifically, what if one game, or even one moment, from the 2025-26 season had played out just slightly differently? As it turns out, that can change everything. Because of the way the process works, and how the league hands out combinations to specific spots in the standings, any result that shifted those standings would also have ended up changing the lott...

The Hockey Show - Episode 711

The Hockey Show , Canada's only campus-produced radio show that strictly talks hockey, hits the airwaves with a lot to get done tonight as five people will be sent off Survivor: NHL Playoffs island. There will likely be some discussion regarding for whom these five are cheering now that their chosen teams have been eliminated, and I'd expect some funny comments from at least a few of the departing entrants. Beyond that, our hosts will squeeze in some hockey news after the exit interviews tonig...

San Jose Sharks In Advanced Trade Talks

The San Jose Sharks are open for business. After some wonderful luck at Tuesday's NHL Draft Lottery, the Sharks skyrocketed up the draft board and found themselves in the two hole. A very familiar spot for them, and with all of their young talent already on their roster, this is going to be very interesting to watch how general manager Mike Grier handles the draft pick. Mike Grier says he was "shocked" at the draft lottery results. Says he remains open to dealing the No. 2 pick. Obviously, the...

NHL Rumors: Predators Could Trade Juuse Saros This Summer

When the Nashville Predators signed Juuse Saros to an eight-year, $61.92 million contract on July 1, 2024, the deal was widely viewed as a reasonable commitment to one of the better goaltenders in the sport. Two seasons later, it looks considerably more complicated. Saros posted a .894 save percentage and a 3.16 goals-against average in 59 appearances this past season, going 28-22-8 while facing the most shots of any goaltender in the NHL for the second straight year. His goals saved abo...
