You When You’re Gone: Oilers 4, Blackhawks 1

The Blackhawks couldn’t hang with the two-time defending Western Conference champions on Monday night at the United Center, losing 4-1 to the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton opened the scoring about 15 minutes into the first period when Evan Bouchard used Zach Hyman as a human backboard while tied up with Alex Vlasic in front of the Chicago goal, putting the Oilers up 1-0: Oilers score first pic.twitter.com/r6Setpys9p — BHF (@BlackhawksFocus) January 13, 2026 Later in the first,...

Today In NHL History - Patrick Kane's Own Goal

On January 12th in 2014, Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane fired a pass past pinching defenseman Duncan Keith, which traveling the length of the ice and into his own empty net during a delayed penalty to Devan Dubnyk, giving the Edmonton Oilers a 2-2 tying goal midway through the second period. Patrick Kane's own goal was credited to Oilers forward Boyd Gordon. Redemption

Blackhawks 1, Oilers 4 — Three Stars, Key Takeaways

Right when we were all excited for a Connor vs Connor matchup and seeing the Blackhawks at full strength with Bedard back in the lineup… it was Bedard who got sick and was not in the lineup. Spencer Knight was really good, and the skaters in front of him were also very active with their sticks. Unfortunately, it was a shot that hit a body that got Edmonton on the board first almost 15 minutes into the contest. Zach Hyman was credited with the goal. Evan Bouchard banked a shot into the net...

BREAKING: Connor Bedard OUT vs Connor McDavid, Oilers

We thought the Blackhawks were done with the whole being sick thing when everyone showed up looking good at the morning skate on Monday. We are in fact not clear. And this one hurts. Connor Bedard , who returned from his shoulder injury just two games ago and had two beautiful assists on Saturday night in Nashville, will not play against Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night because he’s sick.

Around the NHL: Coaching Change in Columbus, Reimer to Ottawa, Demko Hurting, More

As we get closer to the Olympic break, it seems like there are going to be two stories to follow in the NHL: is the arena ready in Milan yet? and who’s getting traded before the fifth of February? There was a flurry of action around the NHL on Monday. The biggest headline grabbing news was a surprise coaching change. But there were a couple notable contracts signed, a former Blackhawks prospect got called up and a veteran netminder might be done for the year. Let’s take a quick lap a...

Scenes From Morning Skate: Oilers can’t sleep on Chicago

The Edmonton Oilers head to Chicago tonight to face a Blackhawks team that’s been through absolute chaos recently. An illness bug ripped through the roster, taking out five starters at one point. They had to call up multiple AHL players just to ice a lineup, including an emergency goalie. It was a mess. But here’s…

Your One Way Street: Blackhawks vs. Oilers Preview

The Blackhawks look to continue their strong start to 2026 when they face the Edmonton Oilers on Monday night at the United Center. When these two teams met in Edmonton back on Nov. 1, the Oilers were still in their typical early-season malaise, owning just a 5-4-3 record before beating the Hawks 3-2 in overtime . But Edmonton hit the gas around Thanksgiving, going 11-5-1 in late November and most of December to surge from outside of the playoff picture to second place in the Pacific Divi...

Pre-Scout: Blackhawks have Connor Bedard back and are in the playoff hunt

Like many youthful teams in 2025-26, the Chicago Blackhawks have yo-yoed up and down this season. After a surprisingly good start, then free-falling as the weather got colder, are the Blackhawks back on the come-up?  That’s what their fans hope for ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Edmonton Oilers. Connor Bedard is back after nearly…

Bedard vs. McDavid, Faceoff Wins, Getting Healthy, Rebuilding Canucks, and Other Blackhawks Bullets

The Blackhawks got a well-earned day off on Sunday. Well earned both because they won a game in Nashville on Saturday night and, frankly, they need to get away from each other and get this flu bug out of their collective systems. They’re rolling right now; the Blackhawks’ only loss this calendar year was on Friday night with a bunch of guys missing and others playing at less than 100 percent. But the calendar doesn’t slow down in the NHL, and it sure doesn’t for the Blackhawks in January ...

Weekly Game Day Thread – 1/12

Welcome to the Game Day Thread for the games in the week of 1/12. The Predators did not win the week last week, though they certainly could have. Losing the one “four point” game to the wounded Chicago Blackhawks was not a good look. We’ve got a tough week ahead. Games this week are: Tuesday 1/13 vs Edmonton Oilers 7pm Central on FanDuel and ESPN Friday 1/16 at Colorado Avalanche 8pm Central on FanDuel and ESPN Saturday 1/17 at Vegas Golden Knights 9pm Central on F...

( Sun-Times ) RECAPS: Blackhawks 3, Predators 0 ( SCH ) ( Sun-Times ) ( Tribune ) Lardis settling into NHL rhythm alongside Oliver Moore ( Sun-Times ) RECAPS: Capitals 5, Blackhawks 1 ( SCH ) ( Sun-Times ) ( Tribune ) ( Athletic ) Three reasons why Blackhawks ended up benefitting from Connor Bedard’s absence ( Sun-Tim...

Big Night for Chicago! Bulls Dominate the Mavs, Schröder-Luka Altercation, and Other Bulls Bullets

What a night! On January 10, the Chicago Bulls, the Blackhawks , the Cubs , and the Bears all grabbed a win of their own. The city is riding a wave of euphoria it doesn’t quite know how to handle, but it’s handling it with a lot of smiles and plenty of flexing on social media. I don’t know about you, but the way the Bulls won last night was the real surprise. What a 2-hour span for the Windy City. Have yourself a night, Chicago! 🤩 pic.twitter.com/DLENZKgNmx — SportsCenter (@S...

All I Wanted: Blackhawks 3, Predators 0

Thanks in large part to its goaltending, Chicago picked up two more vital points with a 3-0 win on the road over the Nashville Predators on Saturday night. After a scoreless first period, the Hawks took the lead for good at the 6:41 mark of the second, when Connor Bedard evaded some Nashville defenders and found Tyler Bertuzzi in his usual spot for a tap-in goal: GOAL: Connor Bedard WHAT A PLAY to set up Bertuzzi for a tap-in goal 😮‍💨 pic.twitter.com/v83lt7e6rg — BHF (@Blackhaw...

Feeling Sorry: Blackhawks at Predators Preview

The Blackhawks have a quick turnaround from Friday’s loss at home to Washington, as they’re in Nashville on Saturday night to face the Predators. It’s the second between meeting between these two teams this season, with Nashville taking two points in the first one with a 4-3 victory at the United Center over Thanksgiving weekend. That win was right around the time that the Predators turned things around from a woeful 6-12-4 start. In the five or six weeks since, Nashville is 14-7-0, surgi...

Blackhawks at Predators — Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

The Hawks had to bring Stanislav Berezhnoy on the trip, so the options in net are two guys who started last night… and both of whom should be in the AHL right now. If Blackhawks head coach didn’t know what he was going to do in net after last night’s game doesn’t give you pause going into this one, the fact that half of the roster is sick and they played last night is a recipe for potentially bad times ahead in Nashville. But you know what? Connor Bedard is back and Oliver Moore is playin...

Chicago Sports Equinox, Everybody’s Sick, Prospects in Action, and Other Blackhawks Bullets

I want to take a quick second to give Drew Commesso some credit. I wrote this in the comments on the game story from last night , but it bears repeating. On Thursday, the Blackhawks traded Laurent Brossoit to San Jose. Commesso went to bed back on top of the depth chart in Rockford, planning for a home start against the Chicago Wolves. Commesso woke up on a game day for the IceHogs and, by lunchtime, found himself driving to Chicago. Blackhawks head coach Jeff Blashill said Spencer Knight...

The Blackhawks Are On EBUG ALERT!

A flu bug is running thru the Blackhawks right now (pun intended), and the roster they’re putting on the ice Friday night against the Washington Capitals is… something. Yes, Connor Bedard has returned from injury. And, yes, Kevin Korchinski was called up from Rockford. But… Nick Foligno, Ilya Mikheyev and Arvid Söderblom weren’t at the morning skate (head coach Jeff Blashill was absent as well). When the Blackhawks came out to warm up, it was Drew Commesso leading the team ...

Blackhawks Recall Kevin Korchinski, Drew Commesso From Rockford

There’s a flu bug ripping thru the Blackhawks room right now. Nick Foligno, Ilya Mikheyev and Arvid Söderblom were not at the morning skate on Friday before the Hawks host the Washington Capitals. So, after watching Blackhawks legend Scott Foster take reps at the morning skate, it makes sense that the Blackhawks would need a viable backup if Söderblom can’t go; the Blackhawks have a back-to-back with a trip to Nashville after the game tonight. They then play again on Monday night. Wi...

Blackhawks vs Capitals — Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

It’s Friday night in Chicago and the Blackhawks are wearing black. Love to see it! The Washington Capitals are in town for a game between two teams that played just six days ago. When the two teams played last weekend, the Blackhawks didn’t have Connor Bedard in the lineup. That will NOT be the case tonight ! After the Bulls’ game was postponed because of humidity issues last night, there were some concerns about the ice surface. The folks at the United Center are some of the best at what...

Tip the Scales: Blackhawks vs. Capitals Preview

The Blackhawks look to continue their unbeaten start to 2026 on Friday night at the United Center against the Washington Capitals. Let’s start with the home team this evening because there’s important news to share: Connor Bedard says he’s ready to go. — Scott Powers ( @scottpowers.bsky.social ) January 9, 2026 at 10:55 AM While Bedard is back — and he was practicing with the top power-play unit, as one would expect — several other players (along with coach Jeff Blashill) ...

Connor Bedard is Back!

The day has finally arrived, Blackhawks fans! Connor Bedard is expected to be back in the lineup! Bedard said he’s “good to go” after the morning skate on Friday, so he looks to draw back in the lineup when the Blackhawks host the Washington Capitals. Bedard has been out since injuring his shoulder at the end of the Blackhawks’ loss in St. Louis on Dec. 12. With him out of the lineup, the Blackhawks were 5-6-1, a record that’s much better now that the Hawks have won their last four g...
