Are we talking about this blog or the Nats? Hey yo! After the nice run that ended with a sweep of Arizona the Nats have played, as we've gone over before, like you'd expect a 75 win team to play. Competitive enough that you would be surprised at them being swept in two straight series. Not good enough that you'd really expect them to win two straight series against better teams. And there are a fair number of better teams. The dregs of the NL remain the dregs, the...

This doesn't have anything to do with the Cubs series. 1 of 3 from the Cubs is what should be expected and seeing Gore look like an ace again is great. However, we are in the "stats are real now" part of the season and last time we looked at the kids whose stats said real good things about them. CJ Abrams continues to be cool but I noted his propensity for extended cold streaks was keeping him from being special. That's not the point, he's still overall good. The only one with a real issue out...

I'm thankful for a lot but I'm very thankful today that the Nats team is winning in strong fashion and not sneaking out close wins because if there's one thing that I hate (and as you can probably tell there are many) it's the trite re-use of the "Cardiac" nickname for any team of young players (Cardiac Kids!) or whose name slightly allows it because of a similar sound (CardiAc NAts!). That isn't happening here. I can breathe. I'm also thankful for a great weekend of Nats bas...

My source inside the Vikings organization tell me the Vikings saved some money this week by not needing to have Sam Darnold's jersey laundered. Look, I watched a lot of Sam Darnold when he played for the Jets. I liked him coming out of college and would always tell my Giants fans friends that he would be a better quarterback than Daniel Jones. He has a strong and accurate arm when he can comfortably step into throws, When he's under pressure is when it all falls apart and the interceptions and...

We are a little less than a month away from the home stretch of the MLB season, and yet, there is no conspicuous World Series front-runner. Kevin Neri/Statesman Journal / USA TODAY NETWORK The Oregon State Baseball team got off to a slow start at the Pac-12 tournament, dropping the opener to freshman Joey Volchko and a Stanford club that got hot in pool play. That was enough to put the Beavers on the back foot of tiebreaker math and led to an early flight back to Corvallis. Fortunately, the regular season resume was enough for OSU to earn the #15 overall national seed in the tournament that truly matters, and the Beavers wi...

Photo by Zac BonDurant/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images Arizona State couldn’t overcome the big inning in one-run loss SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.— In the final Pac-12 baseball tournament in the conference’s history, Arizona State (32-24, 17-13 Pac-12) looked to capture the opener against a Stanford (20-32, 11-19 Pac-12) a team whom they swept just two weeks ago for the first time at Sunken Diamond since 2016. Winners of 16 of their last 20 games, head coach Willie Bloomquist had the Devils trend...

Photo by Katharine Lotze/Getty Images The regular season title passed over Brady Kasper’s head in the desert night on Sunday, but the Beavers have a chance to take home a title and potentially a top 8 national seed in the NCAA Tournament that would keep them in Corvallis for the first two rounds. That opportunity starts for OSU at 10:00 AM PT on Wednesday as they start pool play in the third and final iteration of the Pac-12 Baseball Tournament. The games are kicking off as we speak thi...
