These kids aren't alright

This doesn't have anything to do with the Cubs series. 1 of 3 from the Cubs is what should be expected and seeing Gore look like an ace again is great. However, we are in the "stats are real now" part of the season and last time we looked at the kids whose stats said real good things about them. CJ Abrams continues to be cool but I noted his propensity for extended cold streaks was keeping him from being special. That's not the point, he's still overall good. The only one with a real issue out...

Monday Quickie : Hey hey!

I'm thankful for a lot but I'm very thankful today that the Nats team is winning in strong fashion and not sneaking out close wins because if there's one thing that I hate (and as you can probably tell there are many) it's the trite re-use of the "Cardiac" nickname for any team of young players (Cardiac Kids!) or whose name slightly allows it because of a similar sound (CardiAc NAts!). That isn't happening here. I can breathe.   I'm also thankful for a great weekend of Nats bas...

Minnesota’s Alissa Boltz is set to make her professional boxing debut this weekend, but it’s not your typical first fight in the pro ranks. The 32-year-old featherweight from Buffalo, now training out of Jungle Gym Boxing Academy in Duluth, will be suiting up for the Atlanta Attack in the third season of Team Combat League […] The post Duluth’s Alissa Boltz to Make Pro Debut with Atlanta Attack in Team Combat League appeared first on MN Boxing Events, Shows, News, MN Boxers, Schedule .

Blue Skies

RSNStats has been on Bluesky for about a year now. The live stream of stats during Red Sox games appeared there, as on X/Twitter and Mastodon, all throughout the 2024 season. Recently, Bluesky has heated up, with tons of new folks joining. I’ve been thrilled to be a part of that and to participate in […] The post Blue Skies appeared first on RSNStats .

Sox season ends where it began

Every spring, at 0-0 before Opening Day, hope is the common denominator for all baseball teams. Hope that this will be the year. But the Red Sox didn’t start with reasonable expectations of going all the way in 2024. No doubt, there was hope in corners of Sox Nation, but Vegas oddsmakers back in February […] The post Sox season ends where it began appeared first on RSNStats .

Confessions of a Polluted Mindset - No Laundering Needed

My source inside the Vikings organization tell me the Vikings saved some money this week by not needing to have Sam Darnold's jersey laundered. Look, I watched a lot of Sam Darnold when he played for the Jets. I liked him coming out of college and would always tell my Giants fans friends that he would be a better quarterback than Daniel Jones. He has a strong and accurate arm when he can comfortably step into throws, When he's under pressure is when it all falls apart and the interceptions and...

Duran Sees 20/20

Among his many feats this year, Jarren Duran notched his first career 20/20 season, with 21 home runs and 34 stolen bases as of this writing. It is the first 20/20 Boston campaign since Mookie Betts in 2018 (32 home runs, 30 stolen bases). Sox Eliminated, Again

For a third straight year the Red Sox have been eliminated from postseason play. It happened Wednesday with a loss in the team’s final road game of the season. Boston was essentially out of the race much earlier, of course, in large measure due to a bizarrely long late-season offensive slump that kept them from […] The post Sox Eliminated, Again appeared first on RSNStats .

Close Shaves

This time of year, as the runway of games left dwindles down, you especially rue the near-misses, the games that looked like wins but turned into losses. That was the case earlier this week when the Red Sox let a three-game sweep of the Rangers slip away in a back-and-forth affair that ended in a […] The post Close Shaves appeared first on RSNStats .
