Mets offense outlasts Marlins in marathon win

The Mets came into Wednesday’s game looking to sweep a series for the first time since the middle of August. Robert Stock was taking the mound for the Mets, coming off a scoreless one-out appearance against the Giants. Janson Junk was starting in the midst a nice stretch of starts for the Marlins, having not […]

Jax makes his way bax: Rays 7 Braves 2

Ah, baseball. The Rays looked unimpressive as they lost a series to the lowly New York Mets last week, and I’ll bet I am not the only Rays fan who watched those games and thought, “THIS is a playoff team?” And when they came into Atlanta to play a Braves team that leads the division […]

Aaron Boone hints NY Yankees are saving Aaron Judge for NY Mets series

Aaron Boone revealed the New York Yankees' plan for Aaron Judge, all but confirming he will be held out before the series-opener against the New York Mets. Before Aaron Judge made his first appearance in a pinstriped uniform since May 31, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed reports of a part-time return for the star right fielder. That is still the Bronx Bombers’ plan for the 2026 MLB season. It won’t change because Judge was unhappy with Boone pulling him in the sixth inning...

A Closer Look at Jonah Tong’s Tumultuous Season

The New York Mets and Marlins faced off in a relatively meaningless Labor Day matchup this week in Miami. Both teams are on the outside looking in for the postseason and will conclude their respective seasons over the next few weeks. The headline in New York’s 9-4 victory was the winning pitcher, Jonah Tong. Tong tossed five innings, surrendering four runs on four hits while striking out seven. Certainly not a sparkling start by any means, nor does it qualify as a quality start by the statisti...

Why Mets’ Nolan McLean must win NL Rookie of the Year over Sal Stewart

The National League Rookie of the Year race has been billed as a two-man show between Cincinnati’s Sal Stewart and New York’s Nolan McLean, and with Sal Stewart running away in the betting markets, most people assume this one is already decided. But when you actually dig into the numbers, McLean’s case for the hardware […] The post Why Mets’ Nolan McLean must win NL Rookie of the Year over Sal Stewart appeared first on ClutchPoints .

Where will the Braves finish in team homers?

A throwaway today, but I can at least provide some interesting-ish context. The Braves were third in homers through April, and pushed up to second in May. Then June happened and June was June, and the Braves fell all the way down to 12th. Their July homer binge, driven in part by so many pulled flies down the line, kicked them back up to fourth. They dropped to seventh by the end of August, which is where they sit right now. There are about three weeks left in the season. Four teams (Mets, Ath...

Former Mets GM Joe McDonald Dies at 97 After Storied MLB Career

“It was a great advantage in the long run because I was able to see how Pee Wee Reese fielded the ball, how Jackie Robinson ran the bases, how Carl Furillo threw from the outfield and how Clem Labine would get spin on his curveball.” Long before Joe McDonald became a major league general manager, […] The post Former Mets GM Joe McDonald Dies at 97 After Storied MLB Career appeared first on EssentiallySports .

Mets Star's Trade Future Could Be Decided This Winter

Francisco Lindor made it through the 2026 trade deadline in a New York Mets uniform.  According to multiple insiders, that's a very different thing from making it through the winter. USA Today's Bob Nightengale reported that rival executives believe Lindor will eventually be traded, just not this summer.  "Rival executives believe that Lindor will eventually be traded, but more likely in the offseason than now," Nightengale wrote, explaining that any deal is complicated enough with m...

New York Mets star Juan Soto credited his teammates for pushing through an injury-filled season after Tuesday’s 7-5 win over the Miami Marlins.
