Week 12 of the NFL regular season came to a close with 13 Maryland football alumni seeing the field. Wide receiver D.J. Moore played a huge role in the Chicago Bears continuing their win streak. In a 31-28 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Moore caught five passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns. […]

We all saw on Saturday night what life is like for the Toronto Maple Leafs after Mitch Marner moved on in the off-season. The current era has been one defined by a flawed construction braced by elite talent, but without Marner contributing offence at a 100-point pace while ...

The Baltimore Ravens were steamrolled by the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night, losing 32-14. The Ravens drop to 6-6 and could fall out of first place in the AFC North if the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. Here are the instant reactions from Baltimore Beatdown’s staff: It’s a universal rule in pretty […]
The Baltimore Ravens lost on Thanksgiving, so the Pittsburgh Steelers are in first place once again. It was a short four days that the Ravens took over the lead and the Steelers need to win on Sunday to keep it. The Steelers play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday and a loss by the Steelers would […]
Hello Bears fans! I’m back with another installment of our GBB series, this time looking back at what was good, better, and best in the game between the Chicago Bears and the Pittsburgh Steelers. This game featured a back up quarterback for the Steelers matched against just a few of the regular starters for the […]
It was nearly a year ago in very similar circumstances: a Thursday night game in November, in Baltimore, with the Purple Rising threads. The Ravens were fighting the Steelers for the top of the AFC North, and the Bengals were fighting for their postseason lives. In a shootout fit for primetime, Baltimore’s defense ended up […]
One clearcut sign that Tristan Jarry is playing better is that now his name is coming up in some trade rumors, both specific and vague. Let’s take a look. For starters, the Penguins are growing into a good problem. Between Jarry, Arturs Silovs, Sergei Murashov and now Joel Blomqvist, Pittsburgh has too many quality goalies […]
Baltimore Ravens (6-5) The Ravens won their fifth straight game last week and pulled even with the Steelers at 6-5 overall. By virtue of tiebreakers, though, the Ravens are now atop the division. While the Ravens’ turnaround after a 1-5 start has been more than commendable, they continue to win in unimpressive fashion. Baltimore’s offense […]
The Pittsburgh Penguins have quickly become one of the deepest organizations for goaltending. With struggles around the league and teams looking for goalies, this is a great time to have extra to spare. Elliotte Friedman said, "This person said to me...they've got Jarry, Silovs, Murashov, Blomqvist, so Pittsburgh has four guys. Now who knows what they would do with all of this and when." Tristan Jarry is the longest-tenured, but there have also been trade rumors surrounding him because of his ...
It’s Thanksgiving, at least among some of the lesser hockey countries. So today, I’m going to list a reason that I’m thankful for each NHL team. That’s it. No gimmicks, or clever twists. I promise I’m not even going to do the “Thanks for reminding us it could always be worse” backhanded compliment thing to anyone. Just one sincere, if slightly bizarre, reason to say a quick thanks to every team.

Is this roster headed toward a reset? Joe and Eric break down the Parssinen move, the Sheary scratch, and the growing fear of wasting Fox and Igor’s prime.
Note: Play reviews for this week will not be done, I’m traveling for the holidays and don’t have access to the tools I need to record and overlay information on those recordings. So this weeks recap will be abridged. Play review will be back next week! Happy victory Thursday, Bears fans! Your Chicago Bears are […]

In one of the best annual traditions in hockey, the Pittsburgh Penguins were at PPG Paints Arena for their annual Thanksgiving Eve game and started the holiday celebrations early with a 4-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Tristan Broz made his NHL debut while Tristan Jarry returned to game action along with Ville Koivunen. Matt […]
The Steelers and Bills returned to practice on Wednesday ahead of their Sunday matchup in Pittsburgh, and each team is banged up early in Week 13. For the Steelers, defensive lineman Derrick Harmon (knee) and offensive lineman Broderick Jones (neck) were both non-participants as expected. Head coach Mike Tomlin said both would be out this […]
Pregame It’s a good day for Tristan’s: Tristan Broz makes his NHL debut, bringing Ben Kindel (developmental healthy scratch, talk about an oxymoron) out. Tristan Jarry is back from the IR and starting in goal. The visiting Buffalo Sabres are bringing the following lineup to the action: First period Very low event and sleepy type […]
The full court press is on, and the Edmonton Oilers might be forced to make a move to address their goaltending situation. The team ranks dead last in team save percentage this season, with Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard combining for an abysmal .860 mark through the first 25 games of the Oilers’ season. Neither…
Talk about the game with Pens fans here!
The Edmonton Oilers need a new goaltender, and by the sounds of it, a trade could be coming in a matter of days, not weeks. After the Oilers crumbled on Tuesday night, their superstars called out just about every aspect of the team, including their goaltenders, and admittedly the team hasn't helped them at all this season. Both Stuart Skinner and Cal Pickard are pending unrestricted free agents, and considering the results so far this season, it's become quite obvious the Oilers are look...
While football takes the spotlight on Thanksgiving Day, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving is one of the biggest nights of the year for hockey. Having Andouille lentil soup for dinner and watching the Penguins game on Thanksgiving Eve is an annual tradition for my family just as much as the turkey and stuffing. With Thanksgiving Eve […]
The Pittsburgh Steelers flat out refuse to throw the ball over the middle of the field – and that’s not new. But it is new, however, for offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. Smith has come under fire from a lot of Steelers fans due to this big empty space in Mason Rudolph’s passing chart against the […]
Colin Cowherd is one of the largest voices and faces of sports media in America. When you are consistently in the crossfire of Cowherd, there is typically some smoke where there is fire. On Tuesday, Cowherd echoed what many locally in the media and fans have been thinking for quite some time. The Pittsburgh Steelers […]
On Tuesday, it was announced that Hines Ward is a semi-finalist to be inducted into the National Football League’s Hall of Fame. With a lengthy list of accolades, there is no questioning the talent of the longtime Pittsburgh Steelers receiver. While examining the statistics may give you all you need to know, one person understands […]
