The Detroit Lions (4-2) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-1) were back on the practice field on Friday, getting some more work in ahead of their upcoming showdown on “Monday Night Football.” After returning Taylor Decker to practice on Thursday, the Lions were able to return Terrion Arnold on Friday, and while things are looking up, […]
The Detroit Lions are back in the prime time spotlight for a tough matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Detroit’s coming off a disappointing loss on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs while battling some injuries on defense. The NFC-leading Bucs are looking red hot at 5-1, but dealing with a Lions team back […]
One of my favorite aspects of the Detroit Lions, since head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes arrived in 2021, is their ability to respond to adversity. Even after a tough loss like the one in Week 6 to the Kansas City Chiefs, you can see the confidence this team has with the […]
October 17th: Evan Petzold of The Detroit Free Press reports that Detroit’s offer after 2024 was for four years and less than $100MM. October 16th: The Tigers are now down to their final season of control over the American League’s best pitcher. Tarik Skubal is entering his last year of arbitration and trending towards the…
With the NFL trade deadline coming up in just a few weeks (November 4), analysts are starting to ramp up their predictions for the trading frenzy. In fact, we’ve already seen a handful of trades in the lead-up to the deadline. Like any team, the Detroit Lions could stand to improve their roster as they […]
It’s Lightning vs. Red Wings tonight at Little Caesars Arena. The Wings come into the game with a three-game win streak. It appears that John Gibson will get a shot at redemption. Really hope the team can play like they have been the last few games. Gibson needs to get his legs under him. It’s a long season and Cam Talbot is 38 years old.
For what it’s worth, Mason Appleton skated with Dylan Larkin and Emmitt Finnie at practice on Thursday. A sign that perhaps Lucas Raymond is still heali...
Jon Heyman of the New York Post began stirring up the offseason pot on Thursday with a report claiming that the Tigers and star pitcher were $250M apart in extension talks. While no one doubts Heyman’s assertion that agent Scott Boras wants a contract in the $400-420M range, his claim that the Tigers offered less […]
The Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will square off in a Week 7 NFC battle on “Monday Night Football.” Lions coach Dan Campbell and Bucs coach Todd Bowles have a long history together, dating back to when Campbell was a player in Dallas. “We’ve got a real good opponent coming in Monday night,” Campbell […]
Another swing and a miss for me in the bold prediction factory. After thinking Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff would throw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, Goff finished with two touchdowns and only 203 yards last week. That doesn’t mean I have to give up making bold predictions. I’ll get one right this […]
The Washington Wizards got run out of the gym Thursday in their preseason finale, losing 119-98 to the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena. The Pistons trotted out their projected starting lineup for this one, in a contest that felt like a dress rehearsal for both sides. The Wizards’ starting lineup of Bub Carrington, Alex […]
Earlier this week, the NFL suspended Detroit Lions safety Brian Branch for starting a fight with JuJu Smith-Schuster after their game against the Kansas City Chiefs. On Wednesday, they upheld the suspension when Branch tried to appeal the decision. And on Thursday, NFL Films added insult to injury, posting a weird and insulting video as […]
The Washington Wizards play the Detroit Pistons at 7 p.m. Thursday. You can watch the game on Monumental Sports Network (preseason games are free). Enjoy the game!
The Washington Wizards close out their 2025 preseason run with a road game against the Detroit Pistons. Game info When: Thursday, Oct. 15 at 7:00 p.m. ET Where: Little Caesars Arena, Detroit, Mi. Red Wings Rumblings
Somber yet positive. That’s my vibe today as a fan of the Detroit Red Wings. Somber because we are still waiting to learn more about Lucas Raymond’s health. He left the game Monday with an upper-body injury after taking a heavy hit right on the boards. Didn’t look great, but he was able to move his arm afterward FWIW. No practice yesterday, so we’ll find out more later today.
UPDATE: Lucas Raymond skated at practice . Coach says he’s out tonight and is considered ...
The Detroit Tigers were eliminated from the postseason just five days ago, but MLB news piles up quickly in October. There’s enough to fill a weeks worth of posts. While the Brewers-Dodgers and the Mariners-Blue Jays continue to battle it out for trips to the World Series, let’s run through some of the biggest news […]
The Cleveland Cavaliers wrapped up the preseason with a 118-110 win over the Detroit Pistons. Now, nothing stands between them and the regular season. But before we get there, let’s see what we can glean from this last dress rehearsal. The drought is over, as was indicated by head coach Kenny Atkinson’s water-soaked quarter zip […]
Kenny Atkinson finally picked up his first preseason win with the Cleveland Cavaliers, beating the Detroit Pistons 118-100. It feels good to be done with the preseason with real basketball on the horizon. Grades are based on our usual expectations for each player. Lonzo Ball 9 points (3-5 shooting), 9 assists, 4 rebounds, 3 blocks, […]
The Maple Leafs’ stars woke up offensively, and their depth scoring continued to chip in as they lit up the Nashville Predators for seven (two empty-netters) on Tuesday night. The Leafs largely carried over their five-on-five ascendancy from the final 40 minutes of the Red Wings game in the first period of play. They’re more […]

The Cleveland Cavaliers broke a three-year-long preseason losing streak against NBA teams with a 118-100 win over the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night. Exhibition results haven’t been indicative of how things go when the games count in the standings. That said, you’d always rather win than lose if they’re keeping score. Head coach Kenny Atkinson […]
De’Andre Hunter did not play in the second half of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ final preseason game against the Detroit Pistons. He suffered a knee injury in the first half. He finished the game with 14 points in 14 minutes while shooting 3-6 from the floor. Kenny Atkinson said after the game that Hunter was dealing […]
Alright, after letting emotions settle over the weekend it’s time for a quick unpacking of the Tigers loss to the Mariners in the ALDS. As you’d expect, there’s been a lot of over-cooked rage bait on sports talk radio and the media generally, but that’s only natural after a painful loss in an extra innings, […]
As many of you know, we’re pretty tight with the excellent site, Tigers Minor League Report. Rogelio Castillo and Chris Brown, along with their staff, do a wonderful job of covering the Detroit Tigers farm system throughout the year. We team up for a weekely podcast on Monday night’s throughout the season, and will probably […]
Craig Berube addressed the media after his team’s 3-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, which dropped the Maple Leafs’ record to 1-2-0. On the team’s performance: It was a good, solid 60 minutes, in my opinion. I thought we controlled the play. There were plenty of opportunities to score. It didn’t go in enough. […]

With all of their forward lines rejigged and Easton Cowan set to make his NHL debut, the Maple Leafs are looking for a response effort in the second half of a home-and-home set against the Red Wings (2:00 p.m. EST, Amazon Prime). Game Day Quotes Craig Berube on the need for a response effort in […]

Yzerman says Red Wings’ rookie trio ‘exceeded our expectations’ this fall
Here’s a nice piece from the Red Wings staff featuring Yzerman’s perspective of his homegrown talent finally making paydirt. We’re just two games into the 2025-26 NHL Regular Season, but I haven’t seen anything from Axel Sandin-Pellikka, Emmitt Finnie, or Michael Brandsegg-Nygard that I can complain about. It’s also too early to tell what the ceiling is for these three rookies. I’ve got a go...
