2025 ACC Bowls Dates and Times
So here we go, bowl season is upon us. We already have 3 teams opting out – Iowa State, Notre Dame, and Kansas State. I think we are nearing the end of the bowl format. They served their purpose for many years. They were fun, but I don’t see them staying with the current format … Continue reading »
As they should CFP Committee includes Miami, but process is a mess.
Since the beginning of the CFP playoff rankings, Miami has been behind Notre Dame. At one point, they were 8 spots behind despite having the same record. That was in the week 10 playoff rankings. Miami, in the next 4 games, got better and returned to the form they showed early in the year. They … Continue reading »

Playoffs should have Miami in, Notre Dame in, Alabama out but you never know.
For every argument you can make for Miami, Notre Dame, Alabama, and even BYU there is a previous result that should scare all 4 at large candidates and puts anything and everything on the table. What if a team won its conference championship game by double digits over a top 15 tm and was in … Continue reading »

Does ESPN’s @ADavidHaleJoint nail the ACC’s 2025 football issues or miss the mark?
7-5 Duke being in the ACC Championship Game has set off all kinds of alarm bells for the ACC. There’s no question it’s an absolute nightmare scenario for the conference. If Duke beats Virginia, there is a chance ( a pretty good one ) that the ACC would not have a team in the college … Continue reading »

ACC Winners and Losers from the ACC/SEC Challenge
The ACC lost this year’s challenge to the SEC 9-7. The ACC had an opportunity to win the challenge before a second-day collapse. Still, it was far better than the 14-2 shellacking of last year, and having the results used against the league. So, which ACC teams were winners and losers from the challenge? Winners … Continue reading »

Notre Dame move down CFP Poll creates Miami’s playoff path.
When I saw Miami at 12 in the latest CFP poll, initially, I thought that’s not good for Miami. Then Notre Dame dropped a spot to 10. Oddly enough, Alabama moved up a spot after barely surviving 5 win Auburn. Nevermind, they have a loss to one of the ACC’s worst teams, Florida State. That’s … Continue reading »

How did the ACC’s nightmare Championship Duke Scenario happen?
One of the most embarrassing moments in ACC sports history is one game away from happening. A 7-5 Duke team that wins the ACC Championship would virtually assure that the ACC does not have a participant in the 12-team college football playoff. This doesn’t address that Miami should, in fact, should be an at large … Continue reading »
Wrap it up – the ACC Coach of the Year is Virginia’s Tony Elliot
One award that should be wrapped now is the ACC COY. It’s Tony Elliot of Virginia. Jake Dickert of Wake Forest should be recognized as the only other ACC Coach that I’ll listen to getting any votes, but it’s got to be Elliot in the end. 1) Tony Elliot – Virginia Tony Elliot has turned … Continue reading »
Dabo Swinney and Clemson could have let season collapse. They didn’t.
By early October, all of Clemson’s playoff hopes were gone. Then the ACC Title game chances evaporated. They fell to 3-5 at one point, and it appeared Clemson would have massive difficulty just reaching a bowl game. Dabo Swinney needs to change his coaching philosophy on the portal for Clemson to get back to national … Continue reading »
Florida State with another embarrassing season
So here we are, since the moment FSU was snubbed for the CFP at 13-0, they’ve gone 7-17 (3-13), with no bowls, and a 0-6 record against rivals Florida, Miami, and Clemson. Their ACC record is a conference worst. The program is a corpse, and everybody knows it. They just lost by 40-21 to a … Continue reading »
Close loss to Georgia shows Georgia Tech’s progress, but also where holes remain.
Georgia is one of 2 or 3 programs that are among the elite in college football. Ohio State is at the moment #1, and Georgia well, if they aren’t #2 then who is? Is it Alabama, the one team that Georgia struggles with – maybe? No matter how you slice things, Georgia is a top … Continue reading »

Mike Young Needs a “Victor Davila or Coleman Collins” Type of Player
Good evening, Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) sports fans. I’ve watched Virginia Tech basketball on several occasions this year. Mike Young did a great job altering his roster before start of the season – but he’s missing one component. He needs a big space eater in the post – who can get some more points in … Continue reading »

The ACC’s three biggest questions of week 14.
The three biggest ACC football questions of the week. Here we go for Week 14. Does Georgia Tech have a shot against Georgia? No… not a realistic one. If Georgia Tech beats Georgia, it would require things we’ve very rarely seen this season all coming together at once. Georgia Tech would need the 2nd half … Continue reading »
