21 Takes: Better days (and options) are ahead

It wasn't an awesome outcome for Nick Robertson, even before he'd be replaced by Ville Koivunen on Sidney Crosby's line for the final few minutes. Nor was it an awesome outcome for the Penguins as a whole, actually, with the Jets prevailing, 3-2, on this mostly mundane Monday night at PPG Paints Arena. But it'll be better. Believe me on that.

McCarthy used this mini-bye to self-scout

The Steelers have an extra few days between games, and Mike McCarthy doesn't want to waste them. Following their 27-24 loss to the Browns, the Steelers had nine days between games before hosting the Colts this Sunday. That's given an opportunity to look in the mirror.

DK: Common (but legit) gripes on the Steelers

There are more ways than ever to find a feel for the Steelers' fan base, notably seeing, hearing or reading it online, here on our site or anywhere. Call me crazy, but my favorite way remains face to face. Which is to say, when one of our viewers, listeners or readers pops into our Downtown HQ/shop.

DK: Thirteen goals through two Ws? Uh, wow!

Care to complain? Just because the Penguins had the gall to gag up a four-goal lead in their 60th home opener to the for-real high-flying Canadiens, even while still getting the job done, 6-5, 1:33 into overtime on that Evgeni Malkin/Tommy Novak saucer/one-timer combo above? Come on now. It's the second game.

Chalk Talk: What'll it look like without Porter?

The Steelers had a game plan for the Browns that included Joey Porter Jr., but had to adjust when they were given no choice but to get rid of him. Now that he's gone, what will everything look like? There were examples -- even encouraging ones -- from the Steelers' 27-24 loss on Thursday night.

Final: Browns 27, Steelers 24

Who: Steelers (2-1) vs. Browns (2-1). What: NFL regular season, Week 4. When: 8:15 p.m. Where: Huntington Bank Field. Weather: 77°, partly cloudy, 10% rain, 13-mph wind. TV: WTAE-TV (local). Streaming: Prime Video.

DK: These fast-paced Penguins have fuel to burn

The 2026-27 Penguins aren't as old as they've been, they're not slow at all, and they now appear to have depth/competition that's creating even more of an extra energy, as evidenced by their 7-0 slaughter of the archrival Flyers in both franchise's 60th NHL season opener Wednesday night at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
