NEW YORK – The BIG EAST Conference announced preseason honors prior to Media Day on Monday (Oct. 1), including Silas Demary Jr. as the league's Preseason Player of the Year, Colben Landrew as Preseason Freshman of the Year and UConn as the league's favorites, collecting eight first place votes. Braylon Mullins was a unanimous Preseason First Team All-BIG EAST selection and Na'jai Hines garnered a spot on the Second Team.

The Huskies secured the second set in a marathon 40-38 finish and totaled 63 kills, 66 digs and 58 assists in the contest. UConn hit .262 on the night, compared to DePaul's .235 hitting percentage, while the Blue Demons finished with 62 kills.
