“I Don’t Want To Bury Them, But I Feel Like I Have To Bury Them”
A former NFL general manager said the Bucs don’t have one major problem. They have two. And both are on offense. And former Titans general manager Ran Carthon thinks those problems are Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans. On Mayfield, Carthon […] The post “I Don’t Want To Bury Them, But I Feel Like I Have To Bury Them” appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Morning Cup Of Joe
Welcome to your Morning Cup of Joe, an eye-opener to help Joe’s readers ease into their busy workday with a few football links, wacky news and a pleasant distraction. Distraction of the Day Twitter rumors said the Brazil game was […] The post Morning Cup Of Joe appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Insulting
Baker Mayfield should be insulted. That’s the theme from Kevin Patra of NFL.com after he watched the Browns-Bucs game, which for Joe is the absolute worst loss in recent years. You might have to go back to the Lost Decade […] The post Insulting appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Todd Bowles: Bucs Need More (Big) Plays On Offense
This is odd: Joe doesn’t remember this much hand-wringing about the Bucs offense after Week 2 last season. Weird. But here we are. In his day-after presser this afternoon, KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles bemoaned the lack of big plays […] The post Todd Bowles: Bucs Need More (Big) Plays On Offense appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Albert Breer: “Character” Determined Winner
This wasn’t meant to be a slam at the Bucs, but Joe thinks it is rather damning. Long-time and well-connected NFL scribe Albert Breer of SI.com typed up his usual weekly wrapup of Sunday’s NFL games. Breer doesn’t write about […] The post Albert Breer: “Character” Determined Winner appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Dan Orlovsky Torches Bucs Defense, Playcalling
So ESPN analyst and former Bucs QB Dan Orlovsky shared notes from his film study of the Bucs-Browns game. That’s rare. Usually an analyst will discuss a couple of plays in detail or drop a hot take and some numbers. […] The post Dan Orlovsky Torches Bucs Defense, Playcalling appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Todd Bowles: Rueben Bain May Not Be 100 Percent
So a week ago Joe speculated on WDAE radio and on the Ira Kaufman Podcast that Miami Mauler rookie Bucs edge rusher Rueben Bain was injured or sick in Week 1. Nothing else made sense. Joe watched Bain look ferocious […] The post Todd Bowles: Rueben Bain May Not Be 100 Percent appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
The David Walker Mystery
Zero snaps for edge rusher David Walker in Week 1. Nine snaps for Walker in Week 2. This is the same guy Bucs suits and coaches have been gushing about repeatedly. Joe watched Walker enter the game yesterday and register […] The post The David Walker Mystery appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Ira Kaufman Honored At Raymond James Stadium
Joe will take a quick outrage break and give an approving head nod to the Bucs’ acknowledgement of Ira Kaufman’s 50th anniversary in sports media yesterday. The photo above is from the stadium JumboTron. The photo below is a football […] The post Ira Kaufman Honored At Raymond James Stadium appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
What Are You Paying Chris Godwin For?
Joe is so angry and exhausted Joe can barely see straight, much less cobble together coherent sentences after watching the Bucs puke all over themselves as if someone let lousy Lovie Smith back into the stadium through a hole in […] The post What Are You Paying Chris Godwin For? appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
“Panic” Gets Endorsed; Bucs Fans Called “Suckers”
The outrage around town is palpable. Heck, prior to yesterday’s gutless loss to the Browns, Bucs legend Rondé Barber said on his WFLA streaming show he would need medical attention if the Bucs lost, after sitting “with some whiskey in my […] The post “Panic” Gets Endorsed; Bucs Fans Called “Suckers” appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Ira Kaufman’s 10 Takeaways From Bucs-Browns
BY IRA KAUFMAN Wet, wild and totally unacceptable. You’d think the Bucs would have entered Sunday’s home opener against the Browns in an ornery mood after last week’s giveaway at Cincinnati. You’d think Tampa Bay defenders would tackle better and […] The post Ira Kaufman’s 10 Takeaways From Bucs-Browns appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
A Trade Could Send A Message
Joe hasn’t written a 2026 Bucs season eulogy, far from it. But there is no question that the Bucs’ season is on the brink. Collectively, the team is still soft, something that was supposed to be fixed in the offseason […] The post A Trade Could Send A Message appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Five Things
That was one of the most atrocious losses in years for the Bucs. Joe is shook. So let’s get this over with. Cleveland-Ready Yesterday had to be KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles’ worst loss since he took over the team. […] The post Five Things appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Quick Passes
KitKat-eating Bucs coach Todd Bowles didn’t seem too thrilled with his offense after yesterday’s joke of a loss to the hapless Browns. Nor should he. The constant shorter-than-short passes to running backs, which didn’t do a damn thing other than […] The post Quick Passes appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Bucs Playoff Chances Long, But Not Impossible
This happens every year because the numbers don’t lie. A large segment of NFL fans hit the ceiling when people like Joe start typing about playoff chances after just two games. But Joe, and others, do so because the numbers […] The post Bucs Playoff Chances Long, But Not Impossible appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Paging Rueben Bain
So far — so far! — the buzz isn’t living up to the hype. Not remotely so. Look, Joe is not going to bang on a rookie who has only played two games. But the hype on Bucs rookie outside […] The post Paging Rueben Bain appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Teams Are Allowed To Adjust
For the second week in a row, the Bucs were a short-pass offense, specifically to running backs. In Week 1, the Bucs did this very likely because, as Joe pointed out two weeks ago, the Bengals had the worst defense […] The post Teams Are Allowed To Adjust appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Tristan Wirfs: “Ridiculous” To Have Two-Hour Delay With Two Minutes Left
Joe is not going to pull a loser move and claim the Bucs lost because of a lightning delay. Still, Joe doesn’t think it helped. On the Bucs’ last two possessions, Cleveland’s defense was sucking air, bad. They were just […] The post Tristan Wirfs: “Ridiculous” To Have Two-Hour Delay With Two Minutes Left appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
What The Hell Was That Gameplan?
For a while there this afternoon, Joe thought the Bucs were playing ping-pong the way they were throwing so many short passes. And not just short passes like 5-8 yards downfield. Try a one-yard pass. Late in the first half, […] The post What The Hell Was That Gameplan? appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
“Frustrated Because The Offense Is Close”
So Bucky Irving and Kenny Gainwell combined for 7 catches today for a total of 6 yards — SIX! And Baker Mayfield largely struggled throwing the deep ball while the Bucs offense had at least 8 plays for negative yardage. […] The post “Frustrated Because The Offense Is Close” appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Todd Bowles Saved Deshaun Watson’s Career
Joe hopes weird Cleveland quarterback Deshaun Watson has a nice Christmas present for Todd Bowles. That’s because the Bucs coach very likely saved his career. If but for just a few weeks. It was all over social media and #NFLTwitter […] The post Todd Bowles Saved Deshaun Watson’s Career appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
The Tom Brady Effect Has Left One Buc Palace
When Tom Brady retired, Joe heard over and over and over how the “Tom Brady Effect” would stay alive within the Bucs organizaton for many, many years to come through core players who learned around Brady during their young days. […] The post The Tom Brady Effect Has Left One Buc Palace appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Todd Bowles’ Tennessee-Ready Game
Joe cannot put into words the disgust over what Joe witnessed today (and tonight) at The Licht House. It is easily Todd Bowles’ low. The Bucs are now 0-2 and the history of those teams making the playoffs is not […] The post Todd Bowles’ Tennessee-Ready Game appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
Season On The Brink; Undefeated Vikings Up Next
Baker Mayfield noted tonight after his team’s humiliating loss that the Bucs must regroup quickly because they have a pretty good opponent next week. Joe will take that a step further. Next Sunday’s game against the Vikings is against a […] The post Season On The Brink; Undefeated Vikings Up Next appeared first on JoeBucsFan.com .
