Red Sox prospect Antonio Anderson bat heats up in Arizona Fall League, pitching prospects get value innings
The Red Sox are well represented in the Arizona Fall League, and one of their young prospects is already making plenty of noise with his bat.Through the first week of AFL action, Antonio Anderson has been one of the hottest hitters in the Mesa Solar Sox lineup, batting .368/.500/.737 with a double, two home runs, seven RBI and a 1.237 OPS while hitting near the top of the order.
Giardi: Mike's Musings on Vrabel wanting full buy-in; plus, a Maye and McDaniels tour de force
Maye played almost flawless football.
BSJ Live Q&A: Haggerty with the Bruins on West Coast - 2 p.m. Thursday 10.15.26
Haggs is here to answer all the questions with the Bruins in California on one of their longest road trips of the season and with a nice couple of answer performances against Utah and Philly, and some breakout offensive performances, after a rough loss to Ottawa.
Completed Q&A: Giardi on the resurgent Drake Maye and the Patriots 10.13.26 5 PM
Giardi is here to field your questions. Have you booked your Super Bowl trip yet? Are you going to get tickets for the awards night, when Drake maye will collect his first MVP? I kid (sorta) but this season got fun, fast. Please remember to refrain from commenting until the Q&A is closed.
Completed Q&A: Simone on Celtics/NBA, 5:00 p.m. Tuesday 10.13.2026
A trip to Charleston, South Carolina, two preseason games, and plenty of media opportunities have come and gone. The new-look Boston Celtics are here.
Bedard: 4 sequences to a blowout win - Defense clamps down twice, Maye makes it look easy vs. Raiders
Breaking down the key sequences, through video analysis, in the Patriots' 45-17 blowout win over the Raiders, including:- The defense not yielding points twice in their own territory when the game was still 14-7;- Drake Maye taking a smart sack, and two plays to Hunter Henry before halftime;- Maye's perfect TD pass to Kyle Williams, and the Raiders' complicity.
Simone: Celtics basketball (all basketball) is full of uncertainty
This time last year, the Boston Celtics wanted to be more chaotic. They wanted to run around on defense, force steals, and pivot from the standstill, one-on-one defensive style they had employed in years past.
Giardi: Lomu settled into his normal spot with relative ease; plus injury updates
“I don’t think it was too big for him,” Vrabel said. “I think he was able to settle down, and we didn’t really notice him a lot. So I think that’s probably a good thing.
Bedard: Take a page from Mike Vrabel - don't go too nuts about two impressive Patriots wins
Maye is elite again, McDaniels is awesome, the Patriots might have too many receiving options when A.J. Brown comes back, and the Patriots might never lose again. What a short, strange trip it's been from the doghouse to the penthouse. Anybody else have whiplash?

Giardi: Maye and the Patriots offense soar in a rout of the Raiders
Drake Maye has successfully navigated those early-season blues and found the other side.
BSJ Game Report: Patriots 45, Raiders 17 - Maye (5 total TDs) stars in a blowout
Guess the Raiders didn't bring over the Seahawks' defensive playbook against Drake Maye. Instead of taking away the deep stuff, and not giving Maye easy-read 1-on-1s on the outside, the Raiders did all that and more. The Raiders routinely gave Maye the deep shots outside the numbers that he loves — combine that with mostly good pass protection — and the Patriots' QB picked them apart for four touchdown passes (another rushing).
BSJ Live Coverage: Patriots 45, Raiders 17 (4th) - Maye (4 TD passes, rushing TD) sharp so far, defense keeps holding
All week, I was ready to pick a Patriots blowout, thinking they got their mojo back and the Raiders were coming back to Earth after a 3-0 start. Then I watched the entire Raiders-Chiefs film, and the Patriots became a walking MASH unit. This team is a freaking pain in the ass.
Simone: Defense is already this Celtics team's calling card
Well, on Saturday, Boston provided a first look at the new-look Celtics. Tatum. Paul George. Mitchell Robinson. A new era of Boston basketball. And it only took 48 minutes to light the torch of a new era of Celtics defense.
NHL Notes: Bruins picture gets interesting with McAvoy return
The Bruins knew they were going to be challenged right out of the starting gate while going the first six games of the regular season without No. 1 defenseman Charlie McAvoy, particularly after the abbreviated training camp this season.
BSJ Game Report: Celtics 144, 76ers 106 - Boston bullies its rival
It was the Boston Celtics' second preseason game after they took down the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night. Everyone but Devin Carter and Ron Harper Jr. was active. And Boston's stars came to play.
Bedard: Surprising Raiders will bring a unique challenge to beat-up Patriots with TE Brock Bowers, DE Maxx Crosby
With veteran dynasty Patriots Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels leading the charge for the present-day group, I'm going to assume they'll try to take Brock Bowers and Maxx Crosby out of the game, Belichick-style. I wish them luck.
MLB Notebook: Red Sox have big decision looming with Adley Rutschman; Sonny Gray wants to pitch in 2027
When the Red Sox gave up a massive prospect package to acquire catcher Adley Rutschman at the trade deadline, Boston found a franchise catcher, at least for a year and half. Rutschman will enter 2027, should they play, with the impending lockout on the horizon, has one year left on his deal and will become a free agent next offseason. Craig Breslow traded five players, right-handed pitchers Anthony Eyanson and Kyson Witherspoon, outfielder Enddy Azocar and Harold Rivas, and catcher Carlos Narv...
FINAL: Celtics 144, 76ers 106 - Great home start
Just two preseason games into the Boston Celtics' slate, and Jaylen Brown is already back at TD Garden. He and the Philadelphia 76ers are in town for a preseason contest.
Giardi: NFL Notebook - Patriots will have a lot of of eyes on Bowers; plus, Eagles falling apart?
“I think you have to be aware of where he's at at all times,” linebacker Christian Elliss said. “You'd like to be able to get hands on him. You'd like to be able to not let (QB) Kirk (Cousins) get there.”
Completed Q&A: Bedard on Patriots at 2-2, Raiders matchup 10.10.26
The Patriots got a big win against the Bills, have a crapton of injuries, and welcome Tom Brady's Raiders on Sunday.
Patriots will try to keep momentum going vs. Raiders with six players out, including CBs Gonzalez, Davis
The Patriots will try to build on their victory over the Bills against the Raiders without four cornerbacks, including starters Christian Gonzalez and Carlton Davis.
Simone: The preseason was made for overreactions
Preseason is preseason. At the end of the day, these games mean nothing. In a couple of weeks, every team's slate will be wiped clean, and the real season will begin.
Haggerty: Brunet steps into the point for struggling Bruins
The Bruins have enjoyed some substantial pockets of time where they’ve had power play success in recent years, and last season they enjoyed some very real stretches of special teams dominance early in the year.
Giardi: Maye, McDaniels know one game doesn't prove anything
After matching their offensive total over the first three weeks by scoring 29 points in the win over the Bills, has the offense cured itself of everything that ailed it?
