Travis Konecny and Matvei Michkov are probably better off apart in Flyers’ line combinations

Flyers wingers Travis Konency and Matvei Michkov should, on paper, be a strong force on the ice together. Both have scoring ability. Both seem capable of keeping plays going in the offensive zone, whether working for the puck in the corners or weaving their way methodically into open space. And both had over 20 goals last season for Philadelphia, even if Konecny’s second half of the year was a drastic drop in production. With Sean Couturier down the middle between them, the thought was the lin...

Thursday Morning Fly By: They’re back!

*After many several days, your boys are back on the ice tonight against those St. Louis Blues. Oh, how we’ve missed them. Looks like we might get some different looking lines tonight, so that’s fun. Or interesting. [ BSH ] *We’ll still be seeing Emil Andrae though, who seems to have impressed Rick Tocchet enough to actually stick around for a while. [ Inquirer ] *Not sure who will be starting in goal just yet but that doesn’t matter to the Flyers, they think both guys are equally goo...

6 reasons why Flyers will make playoffs or be destined for Draft Lottery

Through 18 games, the Flyers find themselves with 19 points. They’re at least even in games played with everyone in the Eastern Conference and will have a few games in hand on some by Thursday night when they take on the Blues. They have had some bright spots, they’ve had some problems. Yet they find themselves within reach of a wildcard spot. Not buried behind seven or eight teams, nor are they trailblazing in the Metropolitan Division. If the Flyers were part of an episode of The Simpsons , ...

Rick Tocchet breaks up Flyers Foerster – Cates – Brink line

The Philadelphia Flyers have had one consistent line for nearly the last year. Tyson Foerster, Noah Cates, and Bobby Brink were put together by John Tortorella last November, and they formed one of the most consistent lines not only for the Flyers but in all of hockey during their time together. However, new head coach Rick Tocchet has already had to do some line juggling with Tyson Foerster out of the lineup. He did reunite that line upon Foerster’s return, but it looks like Tocchet...

The Flyers’ under the radar Olympic lock

Heading into this season, there were a lot of prospective debates happening around which Flyers will be called up for their country to represent them at the Milano-Cortina Olympic games. Names like Travis Konecny and Travis Sanheim, who were selected for their respective countries at the Four Nations Face-Off,  immediately come to mind as the prime names that would be discussed as the Flyers most senior, best players.  But while those players will try to break into teams that ha...

Flyers’ offseason additions leading the way at quarter pole

Danny Briere and the Philadelphia Flyers had a rather quiet offseason. The trade for Trevor Zegras was a clear risk worth taking, but it flew under the radar between the Stanley Cup Final and the NHL Entry Draft. Then, Porter Martone took most of the headlines as the prospect fell to the Flyers at sixth overall, with a trade up to draft Jack Nesbitt drawing some attention as well. Not too many big-name players made it to free agency, so Briere and the Flyers were happy to check off t...

Wednesday Morning Fly By: Schedule’s weird

*What’s with this weird break? Last game was Saturday, next game not until tomorrow. That’s like… several days. Anyhoo, Rick Tocchet is using this pocket of time off from game action to address several Problems that have developed with his team over the course of this season. [ Inquirer ] *One of those big glaring problems is the Flyers’ inability to start a game when the game starts. Waiting ’til the ten minute mark or the second period or whatever doesn’t seem to be a good strategy. [ B...

Flyers should claim former first-round pick off waivers

The Philadelphia Flyers are no strangers to a reclamation project, and there’s another worthy one on waivers. The Pittsburgh Penguins waived Philip Tomasino on Tuesday, with teams able to claim him for free. The 24-year-old center has a cap hit of $1.75 million and is a restricted free agent after this season. Tomasino was selected 24th overall in the 2019 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators. He put up 100 points in 62 OHL games the following season before graduating to the AHL, whe...

The Flyers have a Sam Ersson problem

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but the Philadelphia Flyers have a goaltending problem. Coming into the season, it was assumed that incumbent starter Sam Ersson and newcomer Dan Vladar would compete for starts in a tandem situation. Given that Ersson has been with the Flyers for the last few years, it wasn’t a stretch to think that he would get the opening night start and have the lead in the tandem. But that hasn’t been the case. Vladar won the starting job out of training...

Is it time to start talking about Alex Bump?

Alex Bump is coming off of another productive weekend for the Phantoms. The team has just come off their firs three-in-three of the season, and while it wasn’t a perfect showing from them on a collective level, it’s one that saw a number of flashy performances from a number of the top prospects in their mix, with Bump chief among them. Alex Bump with some great work to set up a pretty wacky second goal of the night for Denver Barkey (this line is really buzzing!) pic.twitter.com/xCirSjFMT...

Flyers assign Adam Ginning to Lehigh Valley on conditioning loan

The Flyers sent defenseman Adam Ginning back down to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms Tuesday morning. Transaction: We have assigned defenseman Adam Ginning to the @LVPhantoms (AHL) on a conditioning loan. — Philadelphia Flyers (@NHLFlyers) November 18, 2025 Ginning played five games so far for the Flyers, but he’s hasn’t had action in a while outside of practices. He was dressed fpr the opening four games of the season with Philadelphia before being a healthy scratch. His last game ...

Flyers’ slow starts to games might be cause for concern

We’re close to the quarter-pole of the season, and already the Flyers are out of the gate a little bit better than some anticipated. It’s an extremely tight batch in the standings in the Eastern Conference, with a two-game winning streak possibly putting you into the top three of the Metropolitan. Or a two-game streak of regulation losses putting you near the cellar. Philadelphia has been good in some respects but needing to improve a lot in others. And while the Flyers are being praised for s...

Tuesday Morning Fly By: It’s a blockbuster

*Oh wow everyone, we had a huge bit of a news drop yesterday! Danny Briere is out here making moves in November, reshaping this team’s roster by pulling off a blockbuster trade that came out of nowhere. [ BSH ] *We also got a little news on the Oliver Bonk front. News of the good variety. [ BSH ] *Back-to-back games are annoying for a number of reasons but chief among them is the fact that the Flyers absolutely stink in the second game. [ NBC Sports Philly ] *It would appear tha...

Flyers trade Dennis Gilbert to the Senators for young defenseman

The Philadelphia Flyers and Ottawa Senators have made a one-for-one swap for defenseman and it makes one team younger but with less certainty, and the other one with some stability in the blue line depth chart. Announced by the team on Monday afternoon, the Flyers have traded defenseman Dennis Gilbert to the Senators in exchange for defenseman Maxence Guenette. It’s a blockbuster, we know. TRADE ALERT: We’ve acquired defenseman Maxence Guenette from Ottawa in exchange for defenseman ...

Flyers prospect Oliver Bonk resumes skating

The Flyers are back from their quick road trip over the weekend, during which they split their back-to-back against the Blues and Stars, and after a surely much-needed day off on Sunday, they’re right back on the ice for a good practice, the first in their runway up to their next game on Thursday. And while the Flyers are working with some of the usual headlines coming out of the practice session — the shuffling of some of the forward lines , as well as an absence for Cam Yor k which is, it se...

Aleksei Kolosov rebounds in Phantoms overtime loss to Bears

The Phantoms closed out their first three-in-three weekend of the season yesterday in Hershey, and were looking to exact a bit of revenge after a gutting regulation loss in Saturday’s meeting. And it was a rematch that was going well enough for them, for a time, anyway — after a tightly played first period, the Phantoms were able to finally break through early in the second, grabbing the lead and doing some nice work to hold onto it, at least until things started to go sideways on them, and an...

Flyers’ 3 Stars of the Week: One line stood above the rest

It was a middling week for the Flyers, going 1-1-1 through three games–though truthfully, perhaps it could’ve been 2-1-0 had a certain play not been called offsides. Alas, the record is the record, and we’ll start with the bad news: the Flyers have fallen out of a wildcard spot, with the two New York teams ahead of them. The good news is that the Eastern Conference is still in such a state of flux that, by the end of next week, the could stumble right back into a playoff spot. That’s important...

Monday Morning Fly By: A mixed bag

*Back to back games this weekend and we really got the whole gamut of emotions through 120(ish) minutes, starting with a come-from-behind shootout win in St. Louis. RECAP ! *Charlie has thoughts on Friday’s game over at his website. [ PHLY ] *And then the boys went to Dallas and the game went… a little differently. RECAP ! *Chuck had thoughts on this one too. Everyone’s got postgame thoughts, you know? [ PHLY ] *Somehow we are nearly a quarter of the way through the season ...

Ethan Samson holds steady in season debut with Phantoms

The Phantoms’ winning streak come to a screeching halt last night on home ice against the Bears, as the Phantoms worked through a hard-fought game only to have it ended in heartbreaking fashion. The Phantoms, despite outshooting the Bears more than 2-1 in the first period, couldn’t break through, and had themselves beaten by turnovers and soft plays, falling into a 2-0 hole in the second. But the third period saw their luck beginning to break for them, as Denver Barkey was able to finally...

Porter Martone keeps scoring, Michigan State keeps winning

The Michigan State Spartans returned to action this weekend with a two-game series against another Big Ten opponent; Notre Dame. Porter Martone would open the series with his first multi-goal game at the collegiate level, and followed it up with another tally on Saturday night. On Friday night, the Spartans took control from the first drop of the puck. They found their way into the offensive zone with ease, created chaos on the forecheck, and took a ton of shots at the net. In the opening...

Takeaways: Dallas dominates as Flyers lose 5-1

The Dallas Stars took the Flyers to the woodshed for the most part Saturday night, winning 5-1 thanks to a Jason Robertson hat trick and a Philadelphia effort that didn’t quite measure up. The basics First period: 3:48- Lian Bichsel (Alex Petrovic, Justin Hryckowian) Second period: 11:39- Jason Robertson (Tyler Seguin, Roope Hintz), 17:02- Jason Robertson (Roope Hintz, Esa Lindell) Third period: 9:29- Jason Robertson (Roope Hintz, Mikko Rantanen) (PPG), 10:57- Christian Dvorak (Owen ...

Flyers @ Stars: How to watch, lineups, and gamethread

Coming off an emphatic shootout win over the St. Louis Blues, the Philadelphia Flyers now travel further south and take on the Dallas Stars. It’s a much bigger and better opponent in this second half of a back-to-back, so the Flyers might have their work cut out for them. Puck drop:  8:00 p.m. How to watch/listen: 📺: NBCSP 📻: 97.5 The Fanatic Pregame reading On the prospect side of things, Jett Luchanko absolutely dominated in his Friday night collision with fellow Flyers firs...

Alex Bump, Denver Barkey hit their stride in standout performance for Phantoms

Last night’s game, kicking off the first leg of their first three-in-three of the season, was a big one for the Phantoms, as they were able to overcome a bit of a dicey start on the way to taking down the visiting Springfield Thunderbirds by a score of 7-3, and extending their winning streak to a season high five games. It was a sound effort across the board, as each of their forward lines was able to contribute at least one goal on the night, but the most notable performance of the night came...

Flyers’ Jett Luchanko dominates in OHL battle against Jack Nesbitt

Friday night treated us to a whole lot of Philadelphia Flyers prospects proving their worth in their respectable leagues all over the world. But one that popped out as a single performance, was Jett Luchanko making sure everyone was reminded about what he can do and how he can just take over a game in the OHL. Much has been written about Luchanko and his situation. He’s played in the NHL probably earlier than he should have and the expectation was raised but the freshly-turned 19-year-old...

Takeaways: One Flyers line dominates Blues in 6-5 shootout win
