2026 World Junior Hockey Championship: Full tournament schedule
After claiming the gold medal the last two tournaments, the United States will now host the World Juniors in Minnesota’s twin cities, aiming for a threepeat. They have a good roster to make that happen, but there are several teams that go into the event feeling good about their chances. Preliminary round The first phase of the tournament involves two groups (A and B) of five teams playing a round robin to decide positioning for the playoff portion. The top four nations from each grou...

Thursday Habs Headlines: Jacob Fowler makes his case to stick around
Montreal Canadiens news and notes Jacob Fowler has been Montreal’s most reliable option in net since his recall, and that will make it difficult to return him to the AHL. [ TVA Sports ] Martin St-Louis is happy how his team performed in what he and Fowler felt was a playoff atmosphere in Boston. [ TVA Sports ] Phillip Danault says he tried to be perfect in his first game and didn’t do as well as he would have liked, especially at the faceoff dot. He expects to get better as he...

The Canadiens have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract (2026-27 to 2028-29) with defenseman Bryce Pickford. News release ↓ #GoHabsGo https://t.co/VHRddcfVYP — Canadiens...
Bottom Six Minutes: Habs give their fans an early Christmas present
With injuries, illnesses, and a general need for some time off, the Montreal Canadiens lined up against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday for their final game before the holiday. Overcoming a rough first period, they were the better team in the second and third, taking advantage of some power plays to earn a convincing 6-2 win before their time off. Contributions came from just about everywhere in the lineup, as it was a team effort that saw them take over the game after the first. Ça s'é...

Canadiens @ Bruins Top Six Minutes: Montreal dismantles its rival on its own rink
First period The game begins with Josh Anderson and Tanner Jeannot squaring up at centre ice. We have our tone for this game. Precisely the one the Bruins wanted. Phillip Danault continues the shift with Brendan Gallagher in Anderson’s place and they help draw a holding call when Alexandre Texier is grabbed behind the net. Lane Hutson attempts a pass across the top of the zone, and it leads to a two-on-one from the two Bruins forwards you don’t want to allow one to. Jacob Fowl...

Bottom Six Minutes: Second line helps the Habs get a point
Less than 24 hours after finishing a 4-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Montreal Canadiens travelled to Pennsylvania with their opponents to meet again at PPG Paints Arena. It ended up being a somewhat predictably sloppy game, and the Habs were able to get a point by fighting to overtime, before ultimately falling 4-3 in a shootout. They wouldn’t have salvaged that point without their second line, which was without a doubt their most dangerous on the night. Great job by Demido...
Montreal Canadiens Penalty Troubles: Preliminary Findings
Watching the Montreal Canadiens this season has so far has been fun, frustrating, and at times infuriating. The most consistent source of frustration has probably been the goaltending the team has received this season, but close behind that has been officiating. That’s not new, nor is it unique for sports fans, though I do think the NHL’s officiating is significantly worse than most other sports. Talk to any fanbase in the NHL for long enough, and they’ll probably tell you the refs are ou...
EOTP’s Montreal Canadiens Stars of the Week
The Habs went 2-1-1 during the third week of December, and now sit second in the Atlantic Division with a record of 19-12-5. Montreal’s week got off to a rocky start after Sunday’s commanding win over the Edmonton Oilers, faltering against the Philadelphia Flyers. After Alexandre Texier opened the scoring just a minute into the game, the Habs went on to allow four straight and lose 4-1, with Jacob Fowler ending up placing the dagger himself after a turnover behind the net. Montreal p...

[ TVA Sports ] Phillip Danault addressed the fans: Phillip revient à la maison! 😄 Phillip is coming home! #GoHabsGo pic.twitter.co...
Canadiens @ Penguins Top Six Minutes: Montreal takes a third point from weekend series
First period Montreal is the better team to begin the period, with the opening three shots on goal, the latest off a bad turnover right to the slot from Kris Letang. Jakub Dobeš’s first save comes as he takes the net off on one of his aggressive moves to the post. Those little plastic pegs aren’t enough to handle the force he uses. Thanks to Brendan Gallagher going to the top of the crease on a net drive, the Penguins are focsed on him and not Mike Matheson. Nick Suzuki finds ...
Canadiens @ Penguins: Game thread, lines, and how to watch
Game 36: Montreal Canadiens @ Pittsburgh Penguins Start time: 7:00 PM EST / 4:00 PM PST In the Canadiens region: TSN2 (English), RDS (French) In the Penguins region: Sportsnet Pittsburgh Streaming: ESPN+, RDS, TSN+ With the Detroit Red Wings winning earlier today there is no chance for the Montreal Canadiens to occupy the top spot in the Atlantic Division today, and maybe that’s a good thing given how they’ve played the last couple of times that they’ve had that opportunity. Wh...

Canadiens recall Samuel Blais from the Laval Rocket
With the Habs about to play two games on the road before their holiday break, and the injury to Jake Evans in last night’s game against the Penguins, they’ve called again for reinforcements from Laval. This time, it is Sammy Blais who will finally get a chance to make his Habs debut after being lost on waivers to the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this season, before being reclaimed. Les Canadiens ont rappelé l'attaquant Samuel Blais du Rocket de Laval. The Canadiens have recalled forward Sa...
Bottom Six Minutes: Jacob Fowler’s shutout, and the crease conundrum
For their final home game of the 2025 calendar year, the Montreal Canadiens hosted Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Looking to build on a strong performance in their last outing against the Pens, the Habs turned to rookie Jacob Fowler to backstop them again. He responded with the best performance of his young career, stopping all 31 saves he faced for his first career shutout in a 4-0 win. Fowler’s brilliant performance drew a standing ovation from the fans after the game, but l...

Canadiens vs. Penguins Top Six Minutes: Jacob Fowler earns his first NHL shutout
First period Jacob Fowler comes out to play the puck in the opening seconds and sends it across to his defenceman. That should be the end of any nerves he felt after the giveaway for a goal in his last start. Arber Xhekaj shoves Rutger McGroarty in the back and sends him flying into the boards. That’s really just two minutes for being stronger. Joe Veleno gets a shot off short-handed, but the rebound just eludes Oliver Kapanen. Moments later Josh Anderson fires a shot off...
