Game 48: Montreal Canadiens @ Buffalo Sabres
Start time: 7:00 PM EST / 4:00 PM PST In the Canadiens region: TSN2 (English), RDS (French) In the Sabres region: MSG Buffalo Streaming: ESPN+, RDS, TSN+
The outlook was bleak for the Buffalo Sabres two months into the season. Already in a 14-year playoff drought, an 11-14-4 record on December 8 had them on their way to a 15th. The fans in Buffalo had gone from upset at their team to just giving up on it completely with crowds several tho...
A tough week on the road for the Rocket ended in a split in New York with a star-making performance on Friday night for Kaapo Kähkönen in a win in Rochester. That was followed up by a disappointing loss in Syracuse where the Rocket were unable to hold on to a two-goal lead against the Crunch. The split left the Rocket just four points up in the AHL’s North Division, and with a game against the Belleville Senators on Wednesday night.
To the surprise of no one it was Kähkönen in net again f...

Mike Matheson thwarts an immediate Capitals chance with a sliding strip of the puck.
Nick Suzuki gets tripped as he tries to get onto a loose puck deep in the Capitals zone, but is still able to set up Alexandre Texier for a shot, which goes off the post. No goal, but a power play.

First period
Oliver Kapanen gets the first scoring chance of the game by speeding down the wing for an open shot, but goaltender Nikita Tolopilo makes the stop.
Zachary Bolduc was going to get another one, but didn’t protect the puck well enough to get it past the defenceman.
Just 5% more effort from Montreal here probably gets them a goal, and the floodgates could open from there.

Ann-Renée Desbiens is not from Quebec City, but it is the city where she went to high school and played minor hockey. She had 120 friends and family at Sunday’s game, and left it with a 26-save shutout and more importantly a big three points.

The Vancouver Canucks weren’t supposed to be this bad. They had amassed a number of promising players in recent years, making a top-10 selection every year from 2016 to 2019. The best of those picks was Quinn Hughes, a steal at sixth overall in 2018 who went on to win the Norris Trophy at the end of the 2023-24 season...

A hectic start to 2026 continued for the Laval Rocket on Saturday as they rolled down I-90 in New York for a Saturday evening showdown with the Syracuse Crunch.
