3 Blazers Make HoopsHype’s Top Point Guard Rankings

It should come as no surprise that the Portland Trail Blazers are heavily featured in HoopsHype’s top 27 point guard rankings for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Headlined by the offseason addition of Ja Morant and the anticipated return of Damian Lillard, the Trail Blazers backcourt will be stacked with big names and depth this year. […]

How Important is the NBA Draft in Building a Contender?

The 2026 NBA Draft has passed by now. The 2027 Draft is a season away. The new year will also bring a new draft system, the “3-2-1” scheme that evens out draft odds and gives more than a dozen franchises a relatively equal chance at premium picks regardless of record. We’ve written about this change […]

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Trail Blazers fans and fans across the country. Do You Remember Blazers Wing Stacey Augmon?

Portland Trail Blazers history is studded with All-Stars and significant contributors. Clyde Drexler and Damian Lillard have eras named after them. Bill Walton is linked inexorably with the franchise’s only NBA Championship. In between we can talk about Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge, Maurice Lucas, Kiki Vandeweghe, Arvydas Sabonis, and any number of easily-recalled players […]

The Buss family plans to sell its remaining 17.8% ownership stake in the Los Angeles Lakers to new majority owners Josh Kushner and Bob Iger, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. The Buss family trust — composed of siblings Jeanie, Jim, Johnny, Janie, Joey and Jesse — received majority votes to allow trustees to execute the sale. […]

NBA Disputes ESPN Report About Potential Findings in Clippers Investigation

The NBA has disputed an ESPN report released Monday that detailed findings of the league’s investigation into possible salary-cap circumvention by the Los Angeles Clippers involving star forward Kawhi Leonard. “ESPN’s article regarding the LA Clippers investigation — for which the NBA declined to cooperate — contains numerous and significant inaccuracies,” the NBA said in […]

What are Your Expectations for Deni Avdija This Season?

Nobody had a better 2025-26 season for the Portland Trail Blazers than Deni Avdija. In his sixth NBA season Avdija scored a career-high 24.2 points per game, adding 6.9 rebounds and 6.7 assists, earning his first NBA All-Star nomination in the process. The Trail Blazers have changed significantly over the summer, though. They traded forward […]

Former Portland Trail Blazers forward Trendon Watford has signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. The deal runs for a single year at a $2.9 million salary. Fire Win with Chaotic Fourth Quarter Comeback

The Portland Fire played party-poopers with an 88-85 win over the Phoenix Mercury. The Mercury retired Diana Taurasi’s jersey today while celebrating her tremendous 20-season career in the WNBA, including three WNBA titles. She was All-WNBA 15 times, an All-Star 11 times, and she finished as the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer. However, it was Portland […]

How Many Games Will the Blazers Win in November?

The Portland Trail Blazers’ slate of games this November may just be the Seventh Circle of Hell. That was one of my takeaways from Thursday when the NBA released the 2026-27 regular-season schedule for the Trail Blazers. Portland’s 15 November games include two matchups against the Oklahoma City Thunder, two matchups against the San Antonio […]

Will Branden Carlson Contribute for the Blazers?

The Portland Trail Blazers’ roster is imbalanced. The majority of the squad either plays in the backcourt or at the big man positions, resulting in a scarcity of forward talent. While recent signing Branden Carlson is capable of playing the four, he’s largely a center, highlighted by his seven-foot stature. The Blazers poached Carlson in […]

Fire Sweep Season Series from Seattle Storm

The Portland Fire survived a late comeback attempt to earn an 84-82 win over the Seattle Storm on Friday night to complete the 4-0 season sweep. A buzzer-beater attempt for Seattle was just off the mark, allowing Portland to hold on to their lead. Holly Winterburn led the way for the Fire, scoring a career-high […]

Blazers Fans Think Jeremy Sochan Won’t Play a Major Role This Year

This week we polled Portland Trail Blazers fans across the nation about the Blazers’ latest acquisition, forward Jeremy Sochan. The defensive wizard played for not one, but two NBA Finalists last season. Portland got him on a non-guaranteed contract as he looks to rehabilitate his reputation and resurrect his career after a couple years of […]

Why the Lakers Sale Bodes Ill for the NBA

48 hours ago news broke that the Los Angeles Lakers had been sold for $12 billion. The impending transaction was announced a little more than a year after the last time the franchise changed hands. The profit on the deal for current owner Mark Walter is a cool $2 billion. It’s impossible to tell whether […]

Outside of big NBA developments like the regular-season schedule drop and sale of the Los Angeles Lakers, other news has come in from around the league this week. Who Will the Blazers Be Better Than This Season?

The Portland Trail Blazers will approach the 2026-27 NBA season with a fair amount of optimism. They returned to the NBA Playoffs last spring for the first time in five years. They added extra roster members over the summer, including former Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant. They’ll be ready to compete in the Western Conference […]

Immense Fire Comeback Falls Short vs. Lynx

The Portland Fire lost on Wednesday evening to the first-place Minnesota Lynx 85-81. It was a game of two halves. Minnesota led by as many as 26 in the first half, but after spotting the Lynx a few more points to start the third quarter it was all Portland until the last two minutes of […]

The Portland Fire (13-19) will give it another go against the high-flying Minnesota Lynx (27-7) at the Moda Center tonight.
