Here are your Pens Points for this Friday morning… Anthony Mantha’s poor playoff showing for the Pittsburgh Penguins, which includes zero postseason goals after leading the team in the regular season with 33, in addition to costly penalties across the first three games, may be making the team’s offseason choice easier by pushing them away […]
The Pittsburgh Penguins have lost again, and now the Philadelphia Flyers have a 3-0 series lead in the Battle of Pennsylvania. It is going to be a tough hill for the Penguins to climb if they have any hopes of playing in the second round of the NHL playoffs. In Game 3 Wednesday night, it…
Fans of the Philadelphia Flyers held their collective breath when goaltender Dan Vladar appeared shaken up in Wednesday night’s Game 3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Vladar did not take part in Thursday’s practice at the Flyers Training Center. However, Flyers head coach Rick Tocchet revealed after practice that while Vladar is hurting, he was simply given the day off for maintenance.
Exhale.
“It’s more of a maintenance day,” Tocchet told the media...
The series isn’t over, and the Flyers still have one more win to get to the second round, but thus far Philadelphia has been perfect. They are shutting down one of the better offensive teams in 2025-26 while at times putting on a defensive clinic that hasn’t been seen in some time. Heading into the series, much was made of the fact how deep the Penguins were, with a dozen players scoring 13 or more goals. So even if the Flyers somehow stopped Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, they still had the...
There were decisions to be made going into Game 3 last night for how the Penguins would respond to playing on the road, trailing 2-0 in their series with the Philadelphia Flyers. “There should be frustration,” Dan Muse said after Game 2. “We just lost two games at home. How are you going to respond? […]
The Pittsburgh Penguins have their backs against the wall. The Pens have been owned by the Philadelphia Flyers through three games of their first-round Stanley Cup Playoff series, and there's no doubt Kyle Dubas is going to make some significant roster changes this summer. The Penguins exceeded expectations this season as Dan Muse could be in the running to win the Jack Adams award as coach of the year. Regardless of Muse's impact, there's some changes looming on the roster based on contract s...
There is not any one player or person that is responsible for the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 series deficit. It has been a well-earned, collective group effort that everybody has to own. The Penguins have allowed themselves to get suckered into Philadelphia’s game, there is little discipline, they are not in any way adapting to what […]
Needing a win to avoid going down 0-3 in the series, the Pittsburgh Penguins struck first on Wednesday night for their first lead of the series, but three second period goals from the Philadelphia Flyers erased that deficit and the Penguins subsequently came apart at the seams in what turned out to be a 5-2 […]
In the first Philadelphia Flyers home playoff game – with fans – since 2018, the Flyers gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about as they defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in a physical 5-2 victory.
The Basics
First period: 4:18 – Evgeni Malkin (Bryan Rust, Sidney Crosby) (PPG)
Second period: 5:18 – Trevor Zegras (Jamie Drysdale, Porter Martone) (PPG), 9:06 – Rasmus Ristolainen (Noah Juulsen, Sean Couturier), 11:18 – Nick Seeler (Noah Juulsen, Sean Couturier)
Third period: 9...
Travis Konecny has not been showing up on the score sheet in this first round against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but he is doing exactly what he needs to do. The Philadelphia Flyers still live and breathe in rhythm with Konecny on the ice and he is a major reason why they have now earned a 3-0 series lead over their archrivals.
If you just looked at a bunch of numbers from Wednesday night’s 5-2 Flyers win in Game 3, and saw that Konecny finished the game with zero goals, zero assists, four ...
Pregame The Penguins enter Game 3 with some adjusted forward lines, left wings shuffled all around the first three lines from the start of last game. Otherwise it’s the same, including Stuart Skinner back in net. The Flyers are sticking with what’s been working to this point by using the same players and combos. First […]
The Columbus Blue Jackets traded forward Egor Chinakhov to the Pittsburgh Penguins at the end of December. The Blue Jackets let Chinakhov languish in the bottom-six, and at times was a healthy scratch. The 21st overall selection in 2020 has skyrocketed in production after being placed under the leadership of head coach Dan Muse. In the last 43 games of his career, he's scored 36 points (18-18), being given the responsibility as a top-nine forward in the Penguins' lineup. A s...

The Penguins are desperate. They made sweeping changes to their lineup with a hope that it will make a difference. Let’s hope that it doesn’t. [BSH]
One key thing is that the Fly...
The Pittsburgh Penguins are desperate and it’s wonderful to see. Ahead of Game 3 against the Philadelphia Flyers, as we head into the Xfinity Mobile Arena feeling better than we ever thought we would after the first two playoff games in six years, Penguins head coach Dan Muse has shuffled his forward lines in an attempt to find an answer.
The Penguins have been dead in the water for two straight games and their coaching staff can sense something needs to change. Too bad it’s not “get bett...
The Philadelphia Flyers are back in the playoffs, and the NHL gave them a primetime slot for their first postseason game since 2020 on Saturday night.
While some complained that there could be better matchups in that slot, the television ratings are in, and Game 1 between the Flyers and Penguins set some new records on ESPN.
According to ESPN , 2.1 million viewers tuned in to watch the Flyers take down the Penguins 3-2 on Saturday night. That was a 173% increase over ESPN’s first-rou...
The Philadelphia Flyers can't let the Pittsburgh Penguins get an advantage while up 2-0 in the series.
It looks like the Penguins will be trying some new lines tonight in Game 3 against the Philadelphia Flyers. Here’s how they were working at this morning’s skate. Rickard Rakell moved back from the top line in the middle of Game 2, it looks like the old familiar first line will be back in action […]

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins completed a fine regular season with a 46-17-7-2 record (the third and fourth items being OT and SO losses split out). That completed a 101-point season – third best in the entire AHL and gave WBS just their third 100+ point year. Unfortunately for them, the best team in the AHL in […]

Here are your Pens Points for this Wednesday morning… The Pittsburgh Penguins’ recent playoff struggles at home continued with back-to-back losses to the Philadelphia Flyers in Games 1 and 2. Pittsburgh’s home-ice playoff struggles run deeper than this series against their cross-state rival, however. Since winning the Stanley Cup in 2016 and 2017, Pittsburgh has […]
The Philadelphia Flyers are shocking the hockey world with their dominance over the Pittsburgh Penguins through the first two games of their playoff series. Much of this success stems from the result of a successful off-season that had Trevor Zegras, Christian Dvorak, Porter Martone, Dan Vladar, and Rick Tocchet arrive in Philadelphia. The Flyers have…
The Penguins haven’t given the home fans at PPG Paints Arena a lot to cheer about over the last several years. With losses to the Flyers in Games and 2 of the team’s playoff series, there’s no guarantee that the fans will get to see another home hockey game in Pittsburgh this season unless the […]
The Philadelphia Flyers are defying the odds and have an emphatic 2-0 series lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. And, they just so happen to be impressing a whole lot of people around the NHL, including a star player.
Coming into this series, the Penguins were the major favorite. Whether you went by the sportsbooks, or virtually every hockey analytics site pumping out a projection in the Penguins’ favor, or even national media members choosing...
