NHL Playoff Race: Flyers, Capitals, Blue Jackets vie to play Penguins

A few days ago, we had Saturday circled as the ‘make or break’ day as far as finding out who the Penguins would likely be playing in the first round of the playoffs. Philadelphia was one point up on the NY Islanders and Saturday would see the Flyers play the Winnipeg Jets and NYI take […]

Monday Morning Fly By: Win and you’re in

*It’s been a good weekend around here for the Flyers! Thursday’s game in Detroit was a rough one, but they were able to get things nicely back on track. One of the biggest things they needed to shore up was their discipline, which was a real trouble spot in that loss to the Red Wings. [ BSH ] *And they were able to do that and more, as they marched themselves to a 7-1 win over the Jets to close out the road trip on Saturday. [ BSH ] *It was just about as emphatic of a response as the...

Report: Flyers prospect Jack Nesbitt jumps from OHL to NCAA

One of the Philadelphia Flyers most important prospects has made the decision to make the jump from the OHL to the NCAA for next season, and it could be massive. Jack Nesbitt is currently playing in the OHL playoffs with his Windsor Spitfires squad and is just two wins away from clinching a conference final berth as they look to potentially punch their ticket to the final and then to the Memorial Cup. But, some reports have started to come out that make it almost certain that he is playin...

Flyers just one win away from clinching playoffs

The Flyers will enter the game Monday night at home against Carolina with a chance to do something they haven’t done the previous five seasons: make the playoffs. A win of any kind will put Philadelphia safely into the third seed in the Metropolitan Division. And thus getting them ready for the Battle of Pennsylvania against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the opening round. It’s almost miraculous they find themselves here. But here they are. At home Monday night against Carolina with a chance...

The four biggest questions for the Oilers heading into the 2026 playoffs

Though the Edmonton Oilers lost 1-0 on Saturday to the Los Angeles Kings, the Philadelphia Flyers’ victory over the Winnipeg Jets means that the Oilers have officially clinched a spot in the 2026 NHL playoffs. There are just two games remaining in the regular-season, and less than a week until the post-season begins. Without further…

Today In NHL History - Hextall's Playoff Goal

On April 11th in 1989, netminder Ron Hextall of the Philadelphia Flyers scored an unassisted empty net goal against the Washington Capitals becoming the first goaltender to score in a NHL playoff game. It was the second time a goalie scored in a NHL game, the first being when Hextall fired the puck into the opposing net on December 8th in 1987. Though New York Islanders backstop Billy Smith was

Today In NHL History - Tie Domi Fights Fan

On March 29th in 2001, Tie Domi of the Toronto Maple Leafs pummeled Philadelphia Flyers fan Chris Falcone who, upon being sprayed with water by the bruiser, banged his way through the plexiglass into the penalty box. Falcone required stitches in his forehead and Domi received a $1000 fine from the league. Toronto beat Philadelphia that night 2-1. That's today in NHL history. * See also Today

Islanders Gameday: Canadiens visit without their summer prize

As the 2025-26 NHL regular season and the Eastern Conference playoff push winds down, there are teams that have seized the moment and strung wins together like the Penguins, Flyers and Senators, and there are teams that have spiraled out of previously promising positions to leave an empty feeling like the Red Wings and Islanders. […]

Sean Couturier and Travis Konecny are changing the narrative

After the Flyers’ 7-1 drubbing of the Winnipeg Jets, the Flyers remain in control of their playoff destiny heading into Sunday’s slate of games. If the Flyers find a way to earn 3 of their last 4 points, they are headed back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 season.  As the Flyers have soared back into the playoff picture with a near .700 points percentage since the Olympic break, they’ve changed quite a few narratives about themselves in the process. Rick Tocchet, who ...

No One Should Be Surprised

With the Nashville Predators and the Los Angeles Kings winning their respective games today, the Winnipeg Jets needed the same result in their game against the Philadelphia Flyers if they wanted any legitimate chance at making the playoffs. Mathematically, the Jets wouldn't be eliminated from the race, but the required wins and losses to get in are at their maximums after tonight's woeful, uninspired 7-1 hammering at the hands of the Flyers. For a team that needed to be at its best to make the...

Flyers need Claude Giroux to bail them out yet again

It’s happening again. The Philadelphia Flyers are relying on Claude Giroux to work some magic and give them a whole lot of a better chance to get into the playoffs. The only thing is that this time, Giroux isn’t actually playing for the Flyers. As the Flyers continue to push and push into the playoffs during these final few remaining games of the regular season, every single point matters — and that job only got harder after the disheartening 6-3 loss to Detroit earlier in the week. They ...

GM #79: Philadelphia Flyers @ Winnipeg Jets

Well, the National Hockey League’s 2025-26 regular season is nearing its conclusion…..and it has certainly been an interesting one for the Winnipeg Jets. Coming off a President’s Trophy win, the True Northers had high hopes entering the campaign….but injury issues reared their ugly head during the off-season & training camp, starting the Jets off on the wrong foot. Despite missing key players like Adam Lowry , Dylan Samberg , & Cole Perfetti , Winnipeg started off well by winning 9 of the...

Game Preview #80: New Jersey Devils @ Detroit Red Wings

Last Devils Game This week, the Devils had back to back games against the two NHL team from Pennsylvania, the Penguins and Flyers. In their usual 2025-2026 fashion, the Devils came up short in both games. On Thursday night, the Devils lost to the playoff bound Pittsburgh Penguins 5-2. It was the second game in […]

Report: Flyers to sign prospect Yegor Zavragin to entry-level contract soon

The Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly trying to bring over a top Russian prospect before his KHL contract has expired, again. Yegor Zavragin has been one of the best young netminders overseas and is putting up historic numbers in the SKA St. Petersburg organization, whether it is at the junior level, the second division, or in the KHL. He has ultimately proven to be an exceptional prospect almost immediately after the Flyers nabbed the previously unknown player in the third round of the ...

Rick Tocchet calls out Flyers’ undisciplined play after loss to Red Wings

Although head coach Rick Tocchet was not happy with the energy level or the special teams in Philadelphia’s 6-3 loss to Detroit Thursday night, he was especially irked by the team’s lack of discipline. And while he didn’t name names, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to determine some of the players he was talking about after the game. “I’m a little disappointed, obviously we got to let it go, we’re still in a position of controlling our own destiny,” Tocchet said after the loss Thursday ...

NHL Playoffs: What’s next for the Penguins?

That makes for the best of days. What’s next for the Pens? […]

Friday Morning Fly By: Smacked down

*So they’re really going to play a whole season not having won more than three games in a row. That’s wild. Also, that game last night flat-out stunk. If you missed it, no you didn’t. Recap . *Had a little bit of news yesterday; after some rumors flying around that he wanted to stay in Sweden, the Flyers signed Jack Berglund to his ELC. So he’ll be coming! Cool! [ BSH ] *There’s been a lot of talk of the importance of the Flyers’ young players playing in meaningful, important hockey ...
