The wild ride that has been the Cairo Santos experience in 2025 took another twist on Wednesday with the veteran Chicago Bears kicker being named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Santos made all three of his field goals and his lone extra-point attempt in the Bears’ 22-16 overtime win against the Green Bay Packers. And while I imagine there were some other well-deserving recipients of the award, I imagine this put Santos over the top:

Second-round picks don’t spend two full seasons on the bench in today’s NFL. Players drafted that high are selected for a reason: to start, often immediately. And then there’s Blake Fisher. On a woeful offensive line, Fisher remained under lock and key, buried as the backup option. He’s been hidden, veiled as the proverbial break-glass […]

Right now, on Christmas Eve, the biggest sports star in the city of Chicago is Caleb Williams. Full stop. His Ice-Man antics and explosive talent have filled a vacuum this city has been missing for a loooooooong time. And beating the Packers in overtime (the way he did on Saturday night) gave him an early career-defining moment we’ll probably never forget.
But over the summer, before Caleb and the Bears’ breakout, Pete Crow-Armstrong was kind of The Guy (or at least on his way). There are...

Throughout the 2025 NFL season, SB Nation’s Doug Farrar writes about the game’s Secret Superstars — those players whose performances might slip under the radar for whatever reasons. In this installment, we focus on Green Bay Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis, who has transformed himself from NFL bust to possible starting quarterback, based on what he’s shown in two […]

Week 16 brought Saturday night football too Chicago as the rematch that we’d all been waiting for took place at Soldier Field. Both the Bears and the Packers clearly made adjustments to their game plans entering this one, with the Bears defense notably playing a more “bend-don’t-break” style to limit Green Bay’s opportunities for explosive […]

The Detroit Lions aren’t quite dead yet. If the improbable results of them finishing out by winning their two remaining games (at Vikings, at Bears), combined with the Green Bay Packers losing out (vs. 49ers, at Vikings), happen, the Lions will have managed to sneak their way into the postseason. But after Sunday’s loss to […]

The Baltimore Ravens and the Green Bay Packers are both dealing with injuries to their starting quarterbacks ahead of their matchup on Saturday night. Both teams held walk-throughs so their injury statuses are estimations. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson went down with a back injury just before halftime of Sunday night’s loss to the Patriots. Predictably, […]

The Green Bay Packers had a walkthrough practice on Tuesday and are expected to have a walkthrough practice on Thursday, meaning that the team’s injury reports on those days will be estimations. Still, on Tuesday, both Jordan Love and Malik Willis, the team’s injured quarterbacks, were able to throw the ball around and were estimated […]

The Baltimore Ravens are playing the Green Bay Packers in Week 17, and all eyes will be on the availability of both teams’ quarterbacks. Lamar Jackson left Sunday night’s loss to the New England Patriots with a “significant back contusion,” while Jordan Love sustained a concussion on Saturday night against the Packers. Those injuries would […]

The Chicago Bears are sending three players to the Pro Bowl Games in 2026. And while Drew Dalman, Joe Thuney, and Kevin Byard all deserve to go, that they are not being joined by Nahshon Wright legitimately left me flabbergasted. I’m miffed. And judging by the reactions on social media, a whole bunch of Bears fans are with me in feeling that way. But as it turns out, we are not alone in our disappointment.
This is what Green Bay Packers star Micah Parsons had to say about Nahshon Wright’s...

The Bears’ overtime thriller against the Packers in Week 16 was perhaps the most significant regular-season victory in recent memory, and it allowed them to take control of the NFC North with a chance to clinch the division this week. Before we get into how, let’s take a look at the good, better, and best from their Week 16 victory.

In previous years, poor quarterback play doomed the season in December and January, not giving the Steelers much of a chance in the playoffs. In 2025, Aaron Rodgers is elevating them. The Steelers have won three games in a row and are one win, or a Baltimore loss in Green Bay, away from clinching the […]

Did you know Jordan Love is the same age as Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, and Bart Starr when they won their first championships? If you didn’t, you probably haven’t watched a Packers game this year, because that and other parallels to 2010 (and 1996 and 1961) have been flogged to no end. And maybe they’re […]

The Detroit Lions aren’t mathematically eliminated from the NFL playoff race, but they are beyond a long shot at this point. They need the Green Bay Packers to lose both of their remaining games (vs. Ravens, at Vikings) and the Lions need to win their remaining two games (at Vikings, at Bears). Prediction models have […]

As we all know, Green Bay Packers Jordan Love left the game this past weekend with a concussion, and Malik Willis sustained an injury late in the same game. I know those bits of information, and then I saw 44-year-old, just-off-the-couch Philip Rivers go for 277 yards and 2 TDs on Monday Night Football, so […]

The Green Bay Packers will need to do at least a little bit of reshuffling before they get into the postseason. Most importantly, they only have one healthy tight end on the roster right now, Luke Musgrave, while Matt LaFleur’s teams generally like to roster three or four at the position, because of how many […]

Ben Johnson’s “Good, Better, Best!” post-game rah-rah speech is always a treat. But this week’s installment felt a little bit different. Not just because it came after a thrilling overtime win against the Packers, but also because it came with Johnson handing out a whopping FOUR game balls. And it’s not like there was anyone who didn’t deserve it.
GOOD. BETTER. BEST.

Let’s talk about that moment. You know the one.
Overtime. Green Bay. Twenty-mile-an-hour whipping winds. Game on the line. Caleb Williams releases the ball, and before it even lands—before the result is even official—he sticks his hands right back into his hand warmer and just stands there. Watching.
He knew it.

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched the game-winning touchdown from the Bears’ Week 16 win against the Packers. But whenever I give it another spin, I notice something new. And in my most recent watch, a thought hit me — Tom Brady is good at this broadcasting thing, eh?
I had my doubts that Tom Brady would be able to cut it as a broadcaster. And after Year 1, I didn’t feel great about how things went overall. There was some good, bad, and indifferent — which was to be expected...
