If you would’ve told me the Rays would convincingly sweep a team on the road two weeks ago after what I saw in person at Dodger Stadium, I’d hedge your bet. The Rays, on their first west coast swing of the season, went 1-5 and lost three straight games in one-run fashion. and in the […]
There must be a glitch in the Matrix because for the second time this week, Carter Jensen hit a leadoff home run to get his team up early, only for the Royals to fall to the Rays. This time Tampa won 5-2. Let’s take a look at that Carter jack, though, shall we? That was […]
Despite having been a fan for nearly 30 years, this is quite possibly the most painful season I’ve ever watched. I think I was shielded a bit during the aughts by my childish belief that the Royals could go on a 15-game winning streak at any moment. I used to believe that pitcher ERAs entering […]
The Royals announced that they have selected the contract of catcher Luke Maile. Outfielder John Rave has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha as the corresponding active roster move. The Royals opened a 40-man spot by designating right-hander Eric Cerantola for assignment. Maile, 35, is a journeyman depth catcher. Over the years, he has suited up […]
Royals left-hander Cole Ragans underwent surgery on the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, reports Anne Rogers of MLB.com. It was reported last week that Ragans would be undergoing elbow surgery, but the details of the procedure weren’t clear. The Royals now expect Ragans to miss 10 to 12 months, per Jaylon T. Thompson […]
The Royals have made a lot of transactions today, which could be exciting for fans hoping for a shakeup, but they’re mostly internal to the team. The first announced move was to reinstate Stephen Kolek to the 26-man roster from the Family Medical Emergency List. In a corresponding move, Jose Cuas was optioned back to […]
The Royals announced Thursday that they’ve signed veteran righty Scott Barlow to a minor league deal. The Warner Sports Management client was released by the A’s earlier in the week. He now returns to the organization with which he made his major league debut in 2018. Barlow didn’t just debut with the Royals but rather […]
With the first half of the minor league season over, I thought it would be a good time to evaluate the state of the Royals’ farm system. While the organization has developed a few stars like Bobby Witt Jr., and Jac Caglianone and Carter Jensen are off to good starts, they have struggled to develop […]
Almost no matter how you slice it, the Detroit Tigers have been pretty bad this year. Their overall record of 37-49 has them 12th in the American League, ahead of only the Kansas City Royals and LA Angels, facing down a likely selling role at the Trade Deadline. But they’re only 6 games behind the […]
Surprise! I know it’s not Friday. But big thanks to Trenton! I’m going to be out tomorrow, so he graciously switched with me, and you get him tomorrow. I have even more good news for those who dislike my Friday Rumblings: I’ll be out of town the next two weeks. I believe Cullen and Max […]
It’s the middle game of a three-game series in Kansas City, with the Rays looking to secure the series win after last night’s 10-4 win over the Royals. Shane McClanahan takes the mound tonight against Seth Lugo, who allowed seven runs to the Rays last week inside of Tropicana Field. Jonathan Aranda singled with one […]
Junior Caminero is really good at hitting home runs. At the moment he does it every night. Seth Lugo got a strikeout to start the game before Jonathan Aranda singled in front of Caminero. Junior then smashed the first pitch deep to left and gone to get Tampa Bay an immediate two run lead. That […]
After a 13-14 June, it looks like the Royals main focus is now moving to 2027. But for today, we can still enjoy watching some baseball. Old friend Jose Cuas is back pitching for KC for the first time since 2023 and Randy Dobnak has arrived with him. Jac Caglianone will be back in right […]
The Royals are having a hard time keeping pitchers on the roster in the dog days of summer. The team had a 5.60 ERA during the month of June, third-worst in baseball. Today the continued the roster churn, calling up veteran relievers José Cuas and Randy Dobnak from Triple-A Omaha. The team optioned Eric Cerantola […]
The Royals announced a handful of roster moves ahead of their game tonight against the Rays. Right-handers Jose Cuas and Randy Dobnak are joining the team in place of fellow righties Eric Cerantola and Connor Seabold. Cerantola has been optioned to Triple-A Omaha, while Seabold has been placed on the 15-day injured list. Dobnak was […]

The San Diego Padres need starting pitching, and Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer predicts they will solve the problem with a familiar face. Rymer projects the Padres to reacquire Kansas City Royals right-hander Michael Wacha ahead of the August 3 trade deadline.
"The Padres needed a starter even before they put Lucas Giolito on the injured list on Tuesday, and Wacha is a guy they know well," Rymer wrote. "He had a 3.22 ERA as a Padre back in 2023."
Why San Diego Needs an Arm

Yesterday’s off day following five straight wins wasn’t enough to slow down the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night in Kansas City. The offense remained hot putting up a ten spot on the Royals as the Rays rolled to their sixth consecutive victory. The Rays trailed early in this one as Griffin Jax surrendered a […]
Jac Caglianone is back in the lineup, but he’s only at DH, so Salvador Perez is batting sixth at first base. Nick Loftin is back, too, so at least the Royals have their second-string 3B in there again. The Royals already lost to this starter last week, and after a brilliant stretch where Noah Cameron […]
Not much has gone the way of the Kansas City Royals this season. The American League has been a bit of a train wreck, with a sub-.500 record often being good enough for the final postseason spot. However, at 35–50 and seven games back of that final wild-card position, the Royals find themselves firmly at […]

Back in April, the Royals announced plans for a new downtown stadium at Crown Center. Details were sparse at that press conference, but this week engineering firm Olsson submitted a rezoning application with the city that sheds more light on what the proposed stadium development. The application shows a stadium facing due north, consistent with the […]
Kansas City Royals execs have submitted a rezoning plan for their proposed new stadium development at Crown Center, which Fox4KC, citing the team’s application, describes as “a vibrant mixed-use destination that supports a wide variety of year-round activities – including professional sporting events, concerts, festivals, community gatherings, private events, sponsorship activations and other programmed experiences.” Or […]
Chris Higgins at the Kansas City Star has details on a permit filing for the new Royals downtown stadium. The plans suggest stadium construction could start this year and last through 2031, with dates subject to change. Construction in other areas have suggested timeframes lasting between 2035 or 2040. “We are pleased to continue the […]
Griffin Jax took the ball in Kansas City on July 3, 2021, for what was his fifth career appearance, only this time it did not come via a long trot from the bullpen. Jax had moved into the rotation and was being tried as a starter for Minnesota. It was an experiment that did not […]
