The Dodgers’ signing of Kyle Tucker gave opposing fans all the more reason to hate the Dodgers, and it gave fellow team owners all the more reason to loathe the Dodgers front office. To win two consecutive championships and continue to add star talent while sporting one of the highest payrolls in baseball is the […]
Twenty seven players were on the 2026 Hall of Fame ballot, and eight of those players were once Dodgers during their careers. One of them, center fielder Andruw Jones, was one of two players inducted to Cooperstown on Tuesday. Jones received 78.4 percent of the vote in his penultimate time on the Baseball Writers Association […]
Dodgers utility man Ryan Fitzgerald cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, per MLB transaction logs. This keeps Fitzgerald around as a potential depth option on the position-player side, though he is currently not on the 40-man roster. Fitzgerald was claimed by the Dodgers off waivers from the Twins on […]
After the Mets lost out on Kyle Tucker, with the outfielder signing a mammoth contract with the Dodgers, the main question was where would the Mets turn next? The Mets, through trades and free agency, lost many lineup mainstays, and while they still had Francisco Lindor and Juan Soto, they were looking for another major […]
To date this offseason, three outlets have unveiled a ranking of Dodgers prospects. Baseball America unveiled its top-10 list in November, then expanded it to 30 deep in January. Baseball Prospectus revealed its top 21 Dodgers prospects in November, and FanGraphs dropped its top 52 Dodgers prospects in December. The tippy top of these lists […]
MLB RUMORS — In a morning article at The Athletic , Ken Rosenthal makes a pretty good point: the impending/expected lockout following the 2026 season has not really done much to slow free agent spending this winter. That’s a good thing, not only for the players who are making money (which, yeah, whatever), but also for those of us looking for ANY sign of optimism that games won’t be missed in 2027.
HOWEVER, it’s not all pointing that way.
Rosenthal also interviewed one anonymous exec...
The Mets have made it very clear that improving their outfield is important before we get into February and really begin to think about the 2026 campaign. They offered Kyle Tucker a monstrous four-year, $220 million deal before the lefty chose the back-to-back champion Dodgers offer of four years, $240 million, showing how important they […]
The staredown of a lifetime continues, as the Yankees continue to stand behind their line in the sand with Cody Bellinger. In the meantime, however, the rest of the free agent board has been active: Kyle Tucker caused an uproar by signing a four-year, $240 million deal with the Dodgers while Bo Bichette pivoted to […]
Okay, that line is slightly tongue-in-cheek. But only slightly. To be fair, it’s not particularly the Dodgers that broke baseball. Jesse Friedman made a salient post on Twitter, which I largely agree with. All of these statements can be true at once:1) Dodgers are doing precisely what they should be doing.2) They probably won’t win […]
Happy Monday, friends. It’s been a hectic weekend around the old offseason hot stove. The Mets, who tried their hand at signing Kyle Tucker, needed to rebound quickly after he signed his spendy contract with the Dodgers, so they turned their buying power towards free agent Bo Bichette. We also learned that Elly De La […]
CBS Sports | R.J. Anderson: With Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette having inked deals with the Dodgers and Mets, respectively, the free agent rumor mill turns to the player that the Yankees rumor mill has been focused on all winter: Cody Bellinger. According to reports, the Mets are among the teams that have checked in […]
Welp, this is attempt number three at writing this post. The first version was written on Thursday before the Dodgers had agreed to terms with Kyle Tucker. And the second version was written on Friday morning before Bo Bichette agree to terms with the Mets. Hopefully, I can get this version published before somebody signs […]
This weekend was the weekend of the aftermath of anger. Thursday night saw the Dodgers value Kyle Tucker at $60 million per season, handing him the short term contract he desired to play baseball in a low profile. Bo Bichette decided to take a player friendly deal with the Mets over the security of a […]
The Dodgers have been fairly quiet this offseason compared to the last two, but when they have struck, the bounty has been plentiful. After bringing back Miguel Rojas for the final season of his big league career, the Dodgers shored up their bullpen by bringing in Edwin Díaz to a three-year deal worth $69 million. […]
Astros Fans, It’s Time to Be Realistic About Kyle Tucker Astros fans, it’s time to step back, relax and stop all the hate for Kyle Tucker because he decided to sign with the Dodgers. You need to be realistic and get past your hurt feelings surrounding Kyle Tucker’s decision to sign with a team you […]
If your jaw hit the floor when you learned that the Los Angeles Dodgers had signed free agent Kyle Tucker to a borderline offensive contract this week, you were not alone. Now that we know that the Dodgers payroll will top $400 million dollars for the upcoming season, it’s more important than ever that Chaim […]
Jon Heyman tells us that the Jays offer to Kyle Tucker was $350 million for 10 years. He signed a 4-year, $240 million contract with the Dodgers. So I guess the question is will he be able to find a 6-year, $110 million contract at age 33. I guess it is best to get the […]
Last year, the left fielders for the Los Angeles Dodgers put up a 99 wRC+. That number is actually flattering because Andy Pages managed to do some of his best work (226 wRC+) in his short time away from center field, in 64 plate appearances. Whether Kyle Tucker comes in to play left or we’ll […]
Good morning, LSB. Very little out there in terms of Rangers stuff today but we do have Day 3 of Dodgers hoarding discourse? Ken Rosenthal says there will be calls for a salary cap but that baseball has plenty of other problems to work through as well in order to avoid a work stoppage. And […]
The big news this week is the Dodgers winning the Kyle Tucker and the Mets grabbing Bo Bichette. It’s some big money. Kyle Tucker is getting that partially deferred 60MM AAV and Bo Bichette is getting an player option protected 43MM AAV. I don’t begrudge them. They’re both at the top of a very high […]
Nick Robertson, a right-handed reliever drafted by the Dodgers in 2019 and who made his major league debut with Los Angeles in 2023 before getting traded for Kiké Hernández, signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers, per Ari Alexander of 7News in Boston. Robertson last season had a 4.30 ERA with 52 strikeouts and […]
It was a heck of a hot stove week, with two pairs of transactions seemingly moving in unison. The Cubs swiped Alex Bregman from the Red Sox, which prompted Boston to pivot to a five-year deal with Ranger Suarez. A couple nights later, the Dodgers did what they do and signed Kyle Tucker, which appeared […]
After the Dodgers signed Blake Snell around Thanksgiving 2024, I remembered the Dodgers’ mindset after winning the 2020 World Series. My mind kept going back to a quote I read from Andy McCullough’s biography of Clayton Kershaw: The Last of His Kind: Clayton Kershaw and the Burden of Greatness. In discussing the thought process that Kershaw […]
The Dodgers signed Kyle Tucker, landing the top free agent on the market with an eye-popping four-year, $240 million contract. After setting competitive balance tax records in each of the last two seasons, this move ensured they will stay in that area for at least two more years, if not longer. But along with the […]
A baseball thought before I dive into BN Bears Bullets.
Kyle Tucker signing with the Dodgers (mega eye roll, of course) means that the Cubs essentially traded Hayden Wesneski, Cam Smith, and Isaac Paredes for a 90-win regular-season, a playoff series win, Alex Bregman, and a draft pick (that comes Chicago’s way for Tucker signing with Los Angeles). As far as I’m concerned, that looks like a net win for Chicago.
OK, we’re on to football things.
