World Series Preview: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays (with some Houston Astros considerations)

For the Astros’ fan, deprived of any meaningful games since late September, this World Series might not seem worth watching. Hard to blame the Houston fan for thinking that. The only notable Astros news centers on the purges of coaches/trainers and the signing of a depth piece at pitcher. Still, a World Series is a […]

Blue Jays add Bo Bichette, Ty France to World Series roster

I figured Bo Bichette was going to be on the roster. Ty France was a surprise, but I guess they want him as a pitch hitter against the Dodgers left-hander pitchers. Joey Loperfido and Yariel Rodriguez. Rodriguez has had a tough time of it lately, giving up three earned and two home runs in one […]

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Toronto Raptors: The first true test

The Milwaukee Bucks secured an opening-night win over the Washington Wizards, 133-120, but now they face their first road test of the season, traveling north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors. Milwaukee took the season series against Toronto last year, 3-0. The last time these two teams met was January 17, when […]

Elephant Rumblings: World Series Begins Tonight

Happy Friday A’s fans! The 2025 World Series begins tonight in Toronto as the Blue Jays host the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first game of the series. As the #1 seed the Jays get home-field advantage thus getting to host the first two games before the series shifts to LA. Still, let there be […]

Happy Birthday Chris Colabello

Chris Colabello turns 42 today. The Blue Jays picked up Chris off waivers from the Twins before the 2015 season. In two seasons with the Twins, he hit .214/.284/.364, with 13 home runs in 114 games. So we can be excused for not being excited about a 31-year-old who could play first or DH but […]

Sugar Boo? Fishy? The Springfield Rifle? It's another weird nickname quiz

Big Dumper, we hardly knew ye. Yes, I know I’m a hockey columnist, and we’ll get to that. But the big news up in Canada these days is all about baseball, with the Blue Jays dramatic Game 7 win over the Mariners on Monday sending them to the World Series, which starts tonight in Toronto. It won’t shock you to learn that I’m a Blue Jays fan and have been since I was a little kid, so I’m obviously thrilled to see the team make it back to the top of the mountain after three decades. But I ha...

What are your predictions for the World Series?

In the off chance you weren’t aware, the World Series officially begins tonight when the Toronto Blue Jays host the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the best of seven series. Blake Snell will take the mound for the Dodgers against Trey Yesavage for the Blue Jays at 8pm tonight. The Dodgers are looking to […]

Friday BP: World Series Game 1

Good morning, baseball fans! The world’s biggest Toronto Blue Jays fan has arrived to discuss tonight’s World Series Game 1 between the Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers from the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Taking the mound for the Dodgers will be left-hander and former/not-forever Giant Blake Snell, who finished the regular season with […]

Friday Bird Droppings: It’s World Series time

Good morning, Camden Chatters. Our torturous hiatus from baseball is over. After a three-day break following the Championship Series round, the World Series begins tonight. It’ll be the Dodgers (bleh) against the Blue Jays (yuck) in a matchup in which I, personally, will be rooting for the meteor. First pitch of Game 1 is scheduled […]

Friday Morning Fly By: Gotta score goals

*Well, that sure was a hockey game last night, huh? Something like that. RECAP ! *We got a little update from the org yesterday on the progress being made by Rasmus Risotlainen, who is a real person, and also Oliver Bonk. [ BSH ] *Owen Tippett is having himself a great start to the season, which is cool, but apparently he is also the team DJ? Which is kind of even cooler?? [ Inquirer ] *We were all a little worried about what kind of season Cam York might have after missing the ...

Craig Berube on shaking up his lines again: “I don’t have much patience… I like results”

After Thursday’s practice, Craig Berube discussed his new line combinations with Matthews-Nylander and Knies-Tavares, John Tavares closing in on 500 career goals, Scott Laughton and Morgan Rielly’s status, and withstanding Chris Tanev’s absence.   Practice Lines – October 23 Leafs lines at practice McMann – Matthews – NylanderKnies – Tavares – MaccelliJoshua – Roy – Cowan […] The post Craig Berube on shaking up his lines again: “I don’t have much patience… I like results” appeared first on M...

NHL Trade Rumors: Maple Leafs Among 5 Teams Checking In On Yegor Chinakhov

The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking for something to shake up their forward group, and for now, a shuffling of the lines will have to do. But according to insider Pierre LeBrun, speaking on TSN Insider Trading , the Leafs are among the teams checking in with the Columbus Blue Jackets on disgruntled forward Yegor Chinakhov.  The 24-year-old started the season with three straight healthy scratches, and has played an average of just 8:41 per game in the three contests he's played of la...

Kevin Porter Jr. out tomorrow vs. Raptors

The good injury luck the Bucks had going into the regular season didn’t last long at all. Just 10 minutes into the season opener against the Washington Wizards, the new starting point guard, Kevin Porter Jr., suffered a left ankle sprain. It happened after he accidentally stepped on Bobby Portis’s foot while defending Cam Whitemore […]

Snell, Yesavage named Game 1 starters

The Game One starting pitchers for the World Series have been named. Blake Snell will be getting the start for the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Trey Yesavage will be starting for the Toronto Blue Jays. Snell only made 11 regular season starts for the Dodgers but was excellent in those outings, putting up a 2.35 […]

Trey Yesavage to start Game 1 for Blue Jays

I was sure Kevin Gausman would start game one, but I was wrong. Trey Yesavage is getting tomorrow’s start. He’ll be the second youngest pitcher ever to start a game one. Ralph Branca, who started for the Dodgers way back in 1947 was the youngest, 21 and 267 days. Right now, one of my kids […]

Today In NHL History - Milan Lucic Hits Van Ryn

On October 23rd in 2008, Boston Bruins power forward Milan Lucic delivered a crushing check against Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Van Ryn shattering the TD Garden glass early in the second period of play. Neither player was injured during the incident though a few front row fans were cut by glass. Toronto beat Boston that night by a score of 4-2. That's today in NHL history.

2025 World Series Preview

I know, I know, the Brewers aren’t in the World Series. It’s unfortunate. Still, it will be an interesting series (with potential collective bargaining ramifications!) as the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays take the field. Check out some of the connections these teams have to Wisconsin and the Brewers here! The Dodgers are […]

Could Bo Bichette Play Second Base?

Happy Thursday. Tomorrow we has something we haven’t seen for 32 years, the Blue Jays in the World Series. Ben Nicholson-Smith tells us that Bo Bichette has been taking balls at second base. I’ve always thought that second would be his position. But expecting him to learn a new position for the World Series is, […]
