Today In NHL History - Steven Stamkos' Own Goal

On March 29th in 2014, Tampa Bay Lightning sniper Steven Stamkos fired a pass past defenseman Michael Kostka which deflected off the boards and ended up in his own empty net during a delayed penalty, putting the Buffalo Sabres up 3-2 midway through the third period. Stamkos' own goal was credited to Cory Conacher, the Sabres skater whistled for hooking prompting Ben Bishop to abandon

New York Yankees @ Tampa Bay Rays: Cam Schlittler vs. Drew Rasmussen

The first two games the Yankees played at Tropicana Field since the park’s reopening have proceeded quite…troppily, if you will. New York’s anemic offense was at least able to find a pair of go-ahead hits from José Caballero in yesterday’s 10-inning defeat, though the bullpen wasted little time coughing up the meager advantage to the […]

Aranda Hit The Clutch, Simpson Hit The Gas: Rays 5, Yankees 4

This game started like a chess match and ended like a street race, and once the Rays hit the gas, the Yankees could not catch a break. For six innings, this one had all the tension of a real pitchers’ duel. Nick Martinez was not overpowering, but he was calm throughout, which against the Yankees […]

Matz does it again: Rays 5, Yankees 3

Through his first three starts of the season, Steven Matz is making the 2- year, $15M deal he signed with the Rays this offseason look like quite the steal. The 34-year-old southpaw took the mound for the third time this season and left with this third win. This time, Matz held the dangerous Yankees lineup […]

Bottom Six Minutes: Cole Caufield’s goal, a lifetime in the making

The Montreal Canadiens played the absolute biggest remaining game on their schedule Thursday night, hosting the Tampa Bay Lightning with a chance to pass them for second place in the Atlantic Division. It had every bit of intensity you would expect from a playoff game, and with good reason, as the odds that these teams will meet in the first round seem to strengthen by the game. The Habs controlled the play well through three periods, and though it was a very tight margin of victory, they foun...

After a high-quality win opened their most recent series with the Athletics, the Yankees finished it off with tough back-to-back losses. With some of their better arms slated to start in their upcoming […]
